Historia
Like many of us, Jeffrey Marsh was conditioned to have an outward focus—to give to others, to be a good listener, and to be the one who gave the best advice. In Marsh’s case, it was a method of survival. Growing up genderfluid in an unaccepting family, Marsh did everything they could to meet the needs of others and not have needs of their own. And ultimately, this meant Marsh put themself in the backseat of their own life. In this heartfelt and sincere book, Marsh shares their story and the lessons they learned on the path back to themselves.

We all want to feel less anxiety, guilt, anger, and sadness. We want to obsess less and be less lonely, and free ourselves from our demons, compulsive habits, and stress. But as humans (unlike rocks), we experience all of these. And, paradoxically, trying to avoid and control them only makes things worse. Having struggled with serious mental illness for many years himself, Mark Freeman has become a dedicated mental-health advocate and coach. He makes the case that instead of trying to feel less and avoid pain and stress, we need to build emotional fitness, especially our capacity for strength, balance, and focus.

“Can I kiss you?” It was two months before the world premiere of Juno, and Elliot Page was in his first ever queer bar. The hot summer air hung heavy around him as he looked at her. And then it happened. In front of everyone. A previously unfathomable experience. Here he was on the precipice of discovering himself as a queer person, as a trans person. Getting closer to his desires, his dreams, himself, without the repression he’d carried for so long. But for Elliot, two steps forward had always come with one step back.

There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

With no Trans role models and no path to follow, Alexandra did what her family, teachers, and even friends said was impossible: Alexandra forged ahead. Spanning five decades, from profound lows to exhilarating highs, This Time for Me captures the events of a pioneering life.

We all want love. Everything we do is in pursuit of love, but that journey has gotten difficult and complicated. As a young child in North Carolina, Jacob Tobia wasn't the wrong gender, they just had too much of the stuff. Barbies? Yes. Playing with bugs? Absolutely. Getting muddy? Please. Princess dresses? You betcha. Jacob wanted it all, but because they were "a boy", they were told they could only have the masculine half. Acting feminine labelled them "a sissy" and brought social isolation. It took Jacob years to discover that being "a sissy" isn't something to be ashamed of. It's a source of pride.

Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.

Autistic Trauma
Many autistics have grown up and now need trauma therapy and help finding themselves due to society not allowing us to exist authentically. So many of us are struggling to accept ourselves in a society that doesn’t want to see our way of existing as legitimate. Some of us were raised through ABA therapy, accepting ourselves on a basic level after that can be very hard indeed. This book is a compilation of all the BEST things my parents ever said, as well as all the things I wish they had. I found Jeffrey on Instagram and now it’s their voice (and Wanda Sykes’) that pop into my head during the worst moments to say something that shifts my brain out of the self hate cycle. Thank you Jeffrey.

My favorite
Jeffrey Marsh reads this book which makes it that much better. I have read a lot of self-help/psychology books and I am also a psychotherapist and this is by far my absolute most favorite one. The author is heartfelt and genuine and offers solid advice while not being condescending. They also have a TikTok page which I highly recommend.

Be your own best friend and gift this book to yourself and then gift it to those you love!
This audio book was more like an open, honest, heartfelt conversation with a close friend. Jeffrey’s voice came off as soothing and so full of love and support.
This has really helped me in my growth to accept myself fully as I am. To really love the fabulous agender person that I am.
I would recommend this book to everyone. We have all felt hopeless, unworthy, unloved, and unsure of our purpose. This book is a journey of realizing that all the answers are inside us, the love that we are all so eagerly searching for everywhere is inside us. Happy Reading friends!
Thank you Jeffrey!
