Was Renaissance genius Leonardo Da Vinci’s brain different from yours? Yes … and no. Like you, Da Vinci had a wide array of interests and constantly found connections between them, even when they seemed obscure. You may already be a problem solver at work, and perhaps admire Da Vinci as a ‘polymath’ and ‘Renaissance Man.’ But you may never have thought you could be like him. Da Vinci was ahead of his time. His notebooks, hundreds of years after his death, influenced modern flight, optometry, and photography. How could you follow in his footsteps?

Many of us dread having to convey our ideas to others, often feeling ill-equipped, anxious, and awkward. Public speaking experts help by focusing on planned communication experiences such as slide presentations, pitches, or formal talks. Yet, most of our professional and personal communication occurs in spontaneous situations that creep up on us and all too often leave us flustered and stumbling for words. Stanford lecturer, podcast host, and communication expert Matt Abrahams provides tangible, actionable skills to help even the most anxious of speakers succeed when speaking spontaneously.

This really helped me feel more at ease.
I’ve always sucked at talking to people, especially strangers. I’d get all nervous and not know what to say, which just made things worse. This book showed me that I don’t need to be perfect or have some smooth line—just be real, ask the right questions, and actually listen. Now, I’m not as scared of social situations, and I’m way more comfortable with random chats. If you’re someone who feels like an outsider in every conversation, this could really help. It’s not magic, but it’s definitely made a difference for me.

Talking like an extrovert
The narrator is very good. He is easy to listen to and very understandable. The book itself is well written and very engaging. I really love the way the author uses examples to illustrate principles. My favorite part of the book is the information about body language. I think we can all benefit from appropriately reading body language. I’m not very skilled at reading people and so I listened to this section twice. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in improving their communication skills and especially to introverts such as myself. The practical strategies are very useful.

Transform Your Social Life
If you want to improve your social skills and start feeling like you can talk to anyone, this book is a must read. It breaks down the mechanics of conversations, from opening lines to maintaining a natural flow, in a way that’s easy to understand and put into practice. I’ve already noticed a positive shift in how I engage with others. My only critique is that the tips could’ve been more tailored to specific situations, but the book is still incredibly useful for everyday socializing.

A Good Listen!
This audiobook stood out for me in more ways than one, every chapter was enlightening and impactful. Communication is key, as individuals we must communicate everyday either verbally or nonverbally. The way we are perceived by people stems greatly from our communication pattern. Ever heard the saying "first impression matters"? Your first impression can either make or mar your future relationship with someone or an organisation of people.
Putting yourself on a test and allowing people around you to give genuine feedback of your behavioural pattern is a rich tool I picked from this audiobook. Really Comprehensive! You can never go wrong with the right questions. Let's not forget the fact that the narrator was clear. Great Work!
