Il libro ci invita a riflettere sull'importanza di vivere nel presente. Se questo non avviene, sostiene l'autore, soffriamo, perché:
- diamo potere al passato e ci definiamo in base a ciò che è già accaduto (ma che non esiste più, proprio come la persona che ha vissuto quel passato);
- ci concentriamo sul tempo e dimentichiamo di vivere il momento presente;
- desideriamo un futuro così diverso dal momento attuale che sentiamo la rabbia di non averlo ancora raggiunto.
Il potere di Adesso ricorda una meditazione spirituale, un viaggio verso se stessi, alla scoperta della pace interiore e dell'accettazione della vita.
Eckhart Tolle è un autore e oratore tedesco, nonché insegnante spirituale. Si è laureato in filosofia all'Università di Londra e ha proseguito gli studi presso l'Università di Cambridge. Nel 1977 ha pubblicato il suo primo libro Il potere di Adesso, che nel giro di pochi anni è diventato uno dei libri di spiritualità più venduti di sempre.
