About this listen
Someone's getting married. Someone's getting murdered.
In a dark, dark wood
Nora hasn't seen Clare for 10 years. Not since Nora walked out of school one day and never went back.
There was a dark, dark house
Until, out of the blue, an invitation to Clare’s hen do arrives. Is this a chance for Nora to finally put her past behind her?
And in the dark, dark house, there was a dark, dark room
But something goes wrong. Very wrong.
And in the dark, dark room....
Some things can’t stay secret forever.

Couldn’t stop listening
This is not the sort of book I would normally listen to or read - it was recommended by a friend
But I’m glad I did
A murder mystery story with plenty of twists and turns that keeps you guessing almost to the end
A story of vengeance and secrets and plotting
I highly recommend it

Excellent performance.
Very engaging. Imogen Church did a wonderful job reading. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a who-done-it with an unreliable narrator.

In a Dark Dark Wood
Really enjoyed this book, love the way the story unfolded and never guessed whudunit. Didn't want to put it down, listened till 2am this morning. The narration was excellent. If you enjoy a good psychological story, I recommend this book.

Well done- I am now a Ruth Ware fan!!
"Why am I here?"- a question so many of us ask ourselves in uncomfortable social situations. This gripping story includes a great deal of introspection, and although the cast seems rather young, overall, I still found it an exciting and was not able to stop listening until the very end. I sense a movie in the making!

Amazing Narration !
This book is okay. The story is perfectly decent and has good moments of ‘mystery’. At some point I understand what the narrator went through and how hard it can be to let go of someone we loved. HOWEVER the real reason I would recommend this book is for the amazing narration work by Imogen Church. She made this book a thousand times better and much more interesting than what I’m sure it actually is. So 5 stars to her !

Starts weak but gets better
Narrator is very good and easy to listen to.
Story is a classic whodunit. Number of people involved is very limited, but despite all the comments about how it is obvious who is the murderer, I couldn't decide between three suspects until the very end. Therefore, I must say that the story is ok too. Just do not expect any real depth there, it is not that kind of book.
I've seen comments that it is really unbeliveable that a person would attend a hen party of a friend that she hasn't seen for 10 years or so. Guess that is true, but then, to be honest, Nora is kind of weird. I admit I did not care much about the story in the beginning, it seemed to me that the author doesn't really know where she wants to go with the plot. But it gets better after a while, so do not necessarily give up if you do not like first chapters.

Kept me guessing right up to the end!
Wow. Just wow. I had an inkling about the ending, but when the other shoe dropped...wow. I literally had to stop the audio just so I could walk around and comment like the good little peanut gallery I am.
The characters are well-fleshed out, which definitely added to the richness of this novel.
We are definitely going to have an interesting discussion about this at Book Club!

Very disappointing book with good narrator
The book starts in a promising way. The narrator has a soothing voice without loosing necessary tension, but as the story advances it becomes predictable making the "reveal" at the end not very surprising. The writing seems to be unprorpously repetitive, giving a monotonous tone through out. When the climax arrived, i was left hoping that the "reveal" had more meaning, more depth. The motives of the characters were unbelievable and frankly stupid, and they were all very one dimensional.
