Story
Hilarious, fascinating, and a roller coaster of dizzying, historical what-ifs, Napoleon's Hemorrhoids is a potpourri for serious historians and casual history buffs. In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

Steady Inspiration to Hockey Greatness
As I listened to this audiobook, I was immediately reminded of my godchildren who excel in competitive sports like tennis and rugby. While the focus is on hockey, the life lessons presented are universally applicable and will propel any young athlete to greatness. The discussions around the legendary Wayne Gretzky, especially regarding courage and confidence, are particularly impactful. Moreover, the inclusion of Haley Wickenheiser enriches the narrative, inspiring female hockey players and highlighting the importance of diversity in sports. I appreciate how the audiobook effectively balances skill development with the crucial mental side of the game—an aspect that is frequently overlooked. I strongly recommend this audiobook not only for young hockey players but for all sports enthusiasts.

A fun and inspiring guide for the rink and beyond
This guide has been a game-changer for my 13-year-old hockey-playing son. It’s helped him build routines that will stick with him for the long haul. He was totally into the stories of hockey legends and how they bounced back from setbacks to make history. We listened to it together on the way to his daily practices, and it sparked some great conversations. He even came up with his own set of guidelines to keep him on track. It’s not just a hockey guide—it’s a life guide too.
Highly recommend!

From Skate to Great
To tell the truth of it, I picked this up expecting a bunch of cliches, but it actually delivers some good motivation. Mix of hockey tips real stories, and reminders that mindset matters as much as skill. If you've gotta kid obsessed with it (or just need a reminder that even Gretzky started somewhere, Inspirational Hockey Stories is worth a read.

Very Encouraging for Young Hockey Players
Growing up in Canada, hockey is more than just a sport, it’s part of who we are. This book is a great guide for young players looking to build skills, confidence, and a strong mindset on and off the ice. It’s packed with practical tips on skating, shooting, and agility, plus inspiring stories of legends like Wayne Gretzky, a fellow Albertan. I especially love how it dives into the mental side of the game, helping kids develop resilience and a winning attitude. If you’re a hockey parent or coach, this is a must-read.
