以来、夏と冬の恒例行事として定着し、今では毎年5万人もの来場者が集まる人気イベント。会場の様子はテレビのニュースでもおなじみとなりました。
売上金の一部は福祉団体などに寄付され、第1回の開催以来、寄付金の累計は2億円を超えています。
