Publisher's summary
School shootings and school violence incidents are sadly becoming a tragic reality among our children. In our ever-change school landscape, more frequently we are hearing about school incidents that are impacting our children and society with feelings of anxiety and fear. For those who have been involved in school shootings and school violence and even those who have not, the lasting trauma can have a lasting effect.
This book was created to help children and grown-ups to better understand school shootings and school violence incidents and to give them both some ideas of what to do in an emergency situation. While we should always be ready and prepared in case school shootings or school violence incidents occur, we should never let those incidents keep us in fear. This book is dedicated to those who have lost their lives too soon due to school violence. May everyone reading this book stay safe and well.
Amber N. Wilson, LCSW, LCDC, is a therapist with many years of experience in the mental health field working with children and families. She specializes in treating trauma and has worked with adolescents with severe emotional disturbances and behavioral issues. She believes in the power of using humor, hope, and positivity to help others heal as well as therapeutic techniques such as EMDR, deep breathing, and mindfulness. She hopes that children and school staff can feel safe at school and feel a little more at ease through books such as these.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Eve looks like an ordinary 12-year-old girl, but there’s nothing ordinary about her. She has no last name. No parents or guardian. She’s on the run from a dangerous and secretive organization that will stop at nothing to track her down. And most astonishing of all: she’s a robot, a product of Eden Laboratories. When Eve discovers the truth, she realizes everything she thought she knew about herself is a lie. Eve manages to escape, fleeing the lab, the only home she’s ever known.
