Publisher's summary

Taking on supervillains has never been a problem for Jim (a.k.a. Kid Sensation). It’s what he’s been trained to do, and he does it well. Completely intrepid in the face of danger, he’s never shied away from a crisis, no matter how difficult the assignment or how great the menace. But now he faces a task that even he dreads: hunting down his friend and mentor, Mouse.

Initially hesitant to believe reports that his mentor has gone rogue, mounting evidence and his own firsthand observations soon leave no doubt of the truth: Mouse is now an enemy fully intent on destroying the Alpha League - the world’s premier team of superheroes. Taking him down, however, won’t be easy. Not only is he a brilliant strategist and tactician, but as the leader of the Alpha League, Mouse knows all of his colleagues’ tactics. Their secrets. Their weaknesses.

As the pursuit of his mentor becomes more frenzied and intense, it soon becomes evident that Mouse’s actions have dire implications not just for the Alpha League, but the entire world. However, despite being isolated and alone, Mouse is a formidable opponent who can never be taken lightly, and it soon becomes evident that even Jim’s incredible slate of superpowers may not be enough to stop him.

Fantastic Ride on Excitement

Was a very good exciting story that just kept going till the end. I loved the characters and listening to Mikael Naramore does one fantastic job on reading and pulling you into the story.

Best super hero series going!

Best super hero series going! My 17 year old son loves it. He asks me every once in a while if there's a new book out.

I definitely need the Nextbook to drop already!

Whoa! Such a great book! And, Elektra wasn't as annoying in this book! Looking forward to the next one! Got to figure out what I'm going to read until then!

Much better than the previous, but needs more

It was a very good follow up to the previous novel, but did not clarify the ending as well as it should. The start of this one was a bit out of norm, it seemed as though it was going toward the A in YA but then backtracked a bit. That is not a criticism, just a curve ball, I don't read/listen to this series for adult content and I would rather sit through the teen angst version of a love triangle than what appears in to many overused sex scenes, which still contain teenage whining, just imho. So I am thankful Kevin hasn't gone down that road. The series is still fun and the cast is growing with some substance. I have a feeling this was the start of a new story arc and I really want Jim to make progress on the rest of his powerset, I don't mind an overpowered mc since he already is one.
Either way I enjoyed this book and expect the next to break some new ground. imho

Better than the last one but...

Okay, so my kids and I really love this series and this one was better than the last book but there were a few things that we found really irritating. So, we weren't a huge fan of the incarnate side of the story in the last book and we were hoping to see less of Electra but she was a bigger part of this one and from the other reviews it looks like we aren't alone in wanting Jim end that relationship for good.... Myshtal is a much better fit and by far less demanding and jealous. It does always amaze us how slow Jim can be to figure things out but it does age him appropriately- teens don't fully think things through every time. Overall it was another fun ride and the narration was top notch as always! I love that these are pretty clean books with very little if any language, mild violence, and teen friendly relationships without bedroom scenes - there is some eluding to deeper relationships in older characters but so far that's as far as it goes (hoping they continue to stay clean). I can't wait to see what happens next!

Oxymoron. Jim is smart stupid

This book is the poster child for the word oxymoron. I really hated how in this one he makes Jim over look the Obvious but makes these crazy intuitive leaps to solve the problem. I mean come on who in a normal world passes out twice or even once while eating and doesn't question it let alone someone in a world filled with supers. That's just lazy writing. Also Jim is the most Non convinced convinced person. If you read the book you'll see what I mean. And that ending omg he can't be that stupid. I do like this book series I just don't like this book and only because of how the writer treats his main character. Have some respect for Jim's intelligence.

Never really gets going

It just felt like this installment of the story never got out of neutral. I found my attention wandering while listening to it.
