Publisher's summary

Octavio Cesar Martinez writes on the subject of forgiveness with engaging honesty, humility, and depth. His deeply personal story is raw, inviting us into his suffering and struggle as he recounts his painful and abusive childhood, growing into a life of rage.

But he also leads us into his experience of freedom and joy, without denial or sugar-coating. As Octavio learns to forgive, so do we. If you have been hurt or betrayed, this audiobook is for you. If you have thought about revenge, or imagined punishing someone for their misdeeds, this audiobook is for you. If you have been self-righteous or judgmental, you will benefit.

In short, if you're human, it's for you. It's like emotional and spiritual CPR; breathe it in.

Great very honest and personal story of forgiveness

Octavio is a great story teller being open and honest about his past and his family. He tells very personal stories of abuse and violence perpetrated against him but his point is not about being a victim. The stories are a core part of the message of forgiveness. His journey to forgiveness is long and painful and deep and absolute. It conveys very well the power of forgiveness and the true freedom it can bring.
I’d recommend this book to anyone struggling with a past filled with any form of betrayal especially by those who are supposed to be your closest advocates. The truth and power of forgiveness though is relevant to everyone.
I’ve consumed many audio books and the author doesn’t always make the best narrator. In this case though, given how raw and personal the stories are, No one could have done better than Octavio himself. He speaks clearly with a comforting voice and his genuine emotion as the person that lived the story adds depth no voice actor could. His love for his family and his healing from forgiveness are more powerful from hearing his emotion in his reading.

Full disclosure, One of the “Three Uncles”, the publishers,is a dear friend and gifted me the copy of this book.I lost my sight 5 years ago in an accident and he knows my story well. He also knows I have a lot of experience consuming audiu, including audio books, and have my own story of forgiveness. I’ve never met Octavio and have a very different life story. His points on forgiveness ring very true though and I’m glad to hear the message told so well with so much honesty.
