Story
Most of us know we own too much stuff. We feel the weight and burden of our clutter, and we tire of cleaning and managing and organizing. While excess consumption leads to bigger houses, faster cars, fancier technology, and cluttered homes, it never brings happiness. Rather, it results in a desire for more. It redirects our greatest passions to things that can never fulfill, and it distracts us from the very lives we wish we were living. But it doesn't have to be this way.

In The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, artist Margareta Magnusson, with Scandinavian humor and wisdom, instructs listeners to embrace minimalism.

Story
Peter Walsh, the bestselling author of It's All Too Much, believes that the secret to successfully losing weight is to forget about calorie counting and weekly weigh-ins. Instead, you need to focus on how, why, and where you eat. When it comes to clearing clutter (the fat in our homes), it isn't about the stuff itself, it's about the life you want to live. The same is true for losing weight: It's not about the pounds, it's about living the life you deserve in the body you want.

She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.

What's more, Lightly is a complete philosophy of life. When you're tempted by an impulse purchase, trying to resist a chocolate donut, or struggling to say no to another obligation, all you have to remember is one word - "lightly" - to boost your resolve and make beautiful choices. It doesn't get any easier than that. Lightly is like a recipe book for minimalism, designed so you can dip into it anytime for advice and inspiration.

Unf--k Your Habitat is for anyone who has been left behind by traditional aspirational systems - the ones that ignore single people with full-time jobs, people without kids but living with roommates, and people with mental illnesses or physical limitations. Most organizational books are aimed at stay-at-home moms and people who seem to have unimaginable amounts of free time.

Throw Out Fifty Things is truly an eye-opener. According to Blanke, our lives are so filled with junk from the past--from dried up tubes of crazy glue to old grudges--that's it's a wonder we can get up in the morning, never mind go to work, care for our children and parents, and just put one foot in front of the other. Blanke wants to start a movement of people across America throwing out 50 things (magazines count as one!) that will help liberate us from the stuff - both physical and mental - that clutters our lives.

Read before it's too late!
This is a great audio book to listen to while you're cleaning. I've learned so many organization and de-clutter principles from this book. A lot of people may think that you need to read this book after there is a problem, but I think this is a book everyone should read BEFORE there is a problem. I don't particularly think I currently have hoarding tendencies and I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, but I know the tendencies run in my genes and I definitely could see myself doing some of the horrendous things mentioned in this book. So I'm glad I listened to this audio book as a way of pre-intervention. My favorite principle was: "one toy in, one toy out" or "1 new pair of shoes in, one pair of old shoes out" etc... I got so inspired that I went on massive spring cleaning mode and finally battled the war under my bed. This is a book that you can re-read every few years for inspiration. I think this is one of those books every one needs to read at least once.

Great motivation, excellent tips
I have listened to this book twice already and know I'll be listening to it again. I find the psychology behind clutter really interesting and love all the advice on how to live a lighter life.

Excellent
I've always been a fan of Peter's, and this book is fantastic. He gives you all the info you need and none you don't, it's not too long, it's not complicated, it's not hard to follow. Ironically, I actually bought a paperback copy of this book a couple of years ago but it got lost in all my clutter before I got to read it! I was overjoyed to find it here on Audible, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended.

Practical but enjoyable to listen to.
My house became more organised as I listened to this audiobook. I listened to it three times in a row as it is so compassionately writen and interesting to listen to, allowing the listener to dream about how they want to live to live in a space. For a book about cleaning up and decluttering it really held my attention and did the job... and trust me I am not someone who would usually listen to anything of this genre.

An older title, but still very relevant.
I can listen to Peter Walsh all day. Love the accent. This is the same message from Clean Sweep TV show. Sometimes I put this on to help me through a cleaning and sorting session.

great read
I am getting good ideas on how to organize. The tips in the book are teaching me how to let go of stuff that I thought I'd never get rid of!
