About this listen

Is Jack too young or too old?

Nine-year-old Jack is having a very bad day. Everyone is out to get him - Mom, Dad, his sister, his principal, and even his teacher. His only friend is Tommy Jansen. But when Tommy forgets to warn Jack about the giant, gross, gnarly prank he is about to pull in the boys' bathroom, the result for Jack is giant, gross, and gnarly trouble. And it all started with a rat. Then Jack's day goes from bad to worse. Angry and bored, Jack eventually lands in a mysterious store where everything in it is out to get him. Chairs, tables, lamps, and even a clock are only some of the things Jack must duck under, jump over, or hide from to keep safe. Will creepy characters, flying forks and freaky furniture keep Jack from finding his way back to his family? Jack and the Bean Chair is full of surprise, intrigue, and challenge. Get ready as Jack goes on the run of his life.

This Was Sooo Cute

"Jack and the Bean Chair" was such a cute story. I loved every minute of it and can't wait for my grandchildren to hear it. It was engaging with the laughter as well as the story. Laughing is contagious too. I would definitely recommend scooping this one up. Julie Griffin gets it and writes wonderfully.

Richard Reiman did an outstanding job narrating this awesome story. his voice is just right. He had perfect inflections that kids will enjoy and his laugh is AMAZING!

A boys imagination

Any additional comments?

This is cute little adventure story.

It's hard being 9 yrs old.Jack is having a rough day. He's been in trouble at school. Then is in trouble at home for hiding his sisters doll

Jack and his family visit a consignment store where Jack falls asleep in a ugly bean chair. After Jack falls asleep he finds himself in a weird furniture "graveyard" with some interesting furniture characters like the tiger ottoman, secretary desk, murphy bed all while trying to find his way back to his parents .My grandsons laughed at the story every time his sisters doll was mentioned.

They liked Jacks adventure up until the laughter. They did not like the voice that was used for the laughter. They thought it was creepy (7yr old) and scary(5yr old), they were enjoying the story until that point. Then they asked to read it from that point. They are a little under the target age listed for the book.

.Richard Rienman did a good job with the narration and the voices of the characters.. He did a good job with Jacks emotions and fears throughout the story.
