Resumen del Editor

"Jesus in the Shadows" is asking one big question: When Luke tells us in Luke 24:27 that Jesus showed His disciples “the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures,” just how are we meant to take the word “all”? Was it intended to be figurative—just Jesus’ way of saying, “Hey, no worries, there are a few verses about Me in that book we all like so much, and when you figure them out, you can use them to write your own book and really get the word out”? Or did He mean something immeasurably more? What if some of the most well-known Bible stories (like David and Goliath, Daniel in the Lions’ Den, and Jonah and the Whale) are really just Jesus-stories? What if when Luke used the word “all” he really meant ALL? What if the disciples have learned a new way to approach Scripture from the Master, Himself—having their minds opened to the true understanding that God’s plan has been right in front of His people the entire time (Luke 24:45)? In "Jesus in the Shadows," Eric Robinson looks very closely at seven of the most well-known Bible stories in all of Scripture, showing how they are actually just thinly-veiled descriptions of Jesus’ ultimate work of salvation. Written on a level for any Bible-believer (or any searching heart), Jesus in the Shadows will give a foundation of faith that God’s plan was written down in complete detail over centuries before Jesus’ body was laid in a manger in Bethlehem. You will never be able to read your Old Testament the same again. Endorsements from bestselling authors: "From the moment the first chapter of this off-the-hook book begins, 'What if Jesus led a Bible study?' I was hooked. You will be too. Hear the Jesus story as it should be told, from Genesis to Revelation." Leonard Sweet, best-selling author and professor, chief contributor to sermons.com "This is a highly readable book, written to be understood by everyone, showing how the Jesus story permeates all the Scriptures. The chapters enable the reader to see how the entire Bible was meant to prepare for Christ, and I recommend it highly." Grant Osborne, author of The Hermeneutical Spiral "Eric Robinson presents a stunning portrait of Christ throughout the ages. I was blown away, again and again, by the insights on every page. If you’ve ever wondered how the Old and New Testaments fit together, read this book. You’ll discover JESUS in all His glory, just as God painted Him for us, on the canvas of human history. Dr. Andrew Farley, bestselling author of The Naked Gospel and God Without Religion "Eric Robinson has written a wonderfully insightful study from the Hebrew Scriptures, showing how they point to Y'shua ha Mashiach, Jesus the Messiah. In a day when stories are becoming more and more important as vehicles for communicating truth, this book is a great reminder of how God has woven the promise of a redeemer throughout His revelation to Israel. If you love to study the Bible you will gain fresh insight into the eternal purposes of God through reading this refreshing book." David Brickner, Executive Director of Jews for Jesus, author of Christ in the Feast of Pentecost

A New Way to Look at the Salvation Story

Eric Robinson was a member of the church we used to go to; we have had this book since before it was published, when it was a work in progress. It is so thoughtful and well argued, thoroughly researched. This speaks of a man that knows his Bible but still seeks to learn from it; his excitement to share what he has read is evident on every page.

The basic premise is: Jesus is echoed throughout the entirety of the Bible, including in the Old Testament. The parallels are drawn by the author to show the salvation story in a more complete and nuanced way.

We have the physical copy and re-read it every year. But the audiobook was a treat. It is read by the author, and the excitement that you could hear on the page is now in his voice as he shares his discoveries and assertions with you. It is soothing and pleasant to listen to during quiet meditative Bible time, and it is a good accessibility feature for those that would benefit from an alternative means of accessing the content. An important contribution to theological discussions.

Excellent communication style

I have read the book Jesus in the Shadows, but was thrilled to see it offered on Audible. Eric Robinson is not only an amazing Bible scholar but an author as well. He is able to communicate on a level we can easily understand but also provides a depth to scripture that can also be understood. Eric’s knowledge of Christ and the Word of God is both impressive and a blessing that he shares.
