Publisher's summary

This is the touching story of the benevolent naturalist who roamed the Ohio valley in the early 1800s, planting apple orchards, making friends, and spreading goodwill along his way. Known to early settlers as a gentle soul with a reverence for all life, Johnny never missed a chance to save an abandoned animal or to savor a delicious apple pie. Garrison Keillor's narration is accompanied by original music by Mark O'Connor. Ages five and up.

overall three stars. performance two stars. story 4 stars.

I didn't like the choice of music. I considered maybe they shouldn't have had music at all. The narrating was okay but not my favorite. The storyline was good. I like the idea of not hurting living things. Three brides in heaven doesn't seem like a reward, in fact I think it just seems very confusing. why would you want to have three brides? That's a lot to keep track of. Plus the brides could get into a lot of arguments. oh, and eating mud? not a problem for the story, but, blagh.

Pretty good 👍

I really liked this audio book.
It was great in all.
Though, on second thought,
the righteousness of Johnny Appleseed was
mythical.

Sweet audio in the Rabbit Ears series

This was a lovely audio for children with excellent narration by Garrison Keillor. My kids adored the Rabbit Ears series as little ones and now my tween even enjoyed listening to it before bedtime. This series melds great storytelling, famous narrators, and musical background in a way both parents and children can enjoy.

Highly recommended!

Didn’t know it was morman...

I don’t recall seeing anything that suggested the book was morman or any religion. Got part way into it and apparently Jonny was going to get 3 brides in Heaven...then later he blasted his godly trumpet for new settlers ..etc

Very disappointed and I would like my money back.
Home schooling so using a lot of audio books and this is unacceptable.
