About this listen

Children are often taught that government protects our life, liberty, and property, but could it be true that some laws actually allow people to hurt us and take are things? Join Ethan and Emily Tuttle as they learn about property, pirates, and plunder. With the help of their neighbor Fred, the twins will need to figure out what they can do to stop the bad guys in the government. Frédéric Bastiat (1801-1850) was a French political economist and classical liberal who wrote The Law, upon which this book is based. Through engaging dialogue, young listeners will be led to understand the principles of liberty and the proper role of government.

A good intro to law

I got a promo code for a free audio book (the catch was I wrote an honest and fair review) and I personally have gotten the hard copies for myself.
I love that the audio and the book are the same so my kids can read along with the story teller. She did a really nice job giving each character a voice and keeping even my little 6 yr old boy interested. I like that it is a good introduction to what a law is and is not with out going into to much lawyer speech. I'm looking forward to the other books and how they are.

Perfect!

Just listened to the first book in the Tuttle Twins series. Interesting little story that puts key principles in the mind of young readers while pointing them on to primary sources (Bastiat's "The Law). Long enough to be a good short story. Short and serious enough to achieve the effect of a catechism, but without destroying the story. Not a moralist tale, either, because it doesn't say, "Be good," but rather, "Know truth and love wisdom."

Written at a level that my son can definitely grasp and I can also enjoy. Good conversations ahead!

Easy for kids to understand

This was easy enough for my 1st grader to understand. It kept his interest throughout the duration. My preschooler was not at all interested, though. I could see it keeping the interest of any elementary school aged child. Just wish it were longer. It is pretty basic, but my son still had questions about the government, etc. these things were mentioned in the story, but not expanded upon.

Great values!

The Law is a simple book that explains timeless values (some that have been lost). I would recommend this book for any child ages 7-9. I will be buying the paperback version for sure. As I imagine that the illustrations will be enjoyable for my son!
