Publisher's summary

King's League is more than a game...it's a way of life.

For recently expelled college dropout Dirk Wilson, picking up and re-selling other player's scraps from cleared dungeons and side quests gone sideways is the only thing keeping him from living on the streets.

Tired of ramen noodles, past-due notices, and feeling like his future is over before it ever started, Dirk decides that if he's going to make something of himself, it'll be within the game, taking advantage of the real-life payouts from selling in-game goods on King's League's River Market.

But the game leaves little margin for error, and Dirk's virtual problems grow as large as his real-life ones as he discovers a powerful conspiracy that impacts players from level one to level 99.

One-million-copy number-one best-selling authors Jason Anspach and JN Chaney team up to tell this action-packed, humorous LitRPG adventure that blends the cheeky fun of Ready Player One with all the adventure and excitement of Elder Scrolls and World of Warcraft.

A breath of fresh air

I've listened to most of Chaney's stuff, but never any of Anspach's. This is a truly awesome change to the typical space opera and military scifi that Chaney has done in the past. I played Warcraft for years (along with Everquest) and this book definitely captures that feeling. It's also nice to see a book that doesn't drop F-bombs every five seconds. I can actually listen to this with my kids and we can all enjoy it. Definitely check it out if you liked Ready Player One, as it has a similar feel to it, but with more attention to detail and a greater emphasis on actual gaming.

I'm looking forward to book 2 already!

This is the best LITRPG I've ever read.

This is the best I've heard. This is what the genre should be like. Amazing.

Very good book

this was a fun book. it was about a guy playing an online game. he didn't get sucked into it, just normal game play that really took me back to my rpg days. well written, well performed.

In all a good story

A good story though it rambles on at points breaking the immersion in the action.

Nobody writes better audio books than Anspach!

I know Jason Anspach from his amazing work on Galaxy's Edge. It's so great to hear this new story... you can definitely pick up some of the humor he puts into Galaxy's Edge and his earlier works in King's League. At times I was laughing out loud at Dirk's adventures and really enjoyed some of the throwbacks and nostalgia.

Never thought I'd be reading a LitRPG, but if they're like this... I don't mind them at all!

A Great Beginning

I really enjoy litRPG's and the only downfall is when they spend minutes just listing player stats. This book doesn't get lost in stats and balances very well. It is read well to boot.

From desperation comes fame

This is a good book about someone who's desperate and put in a corner and needs to get out in some ways it sets up other books by giving us hints about his real life but not laying everything out about why he got kicked out and the tension between him and his best friend while at the same time with in the game a We have some Over powered stuff happening Is it knowlegde It's a great way to set up the series
