Middle Grade Fantasy Soap Opera

Parents- PG - PG13
Language: PG13 - moderate bad language and no f-bombs
Violence: PG- normal to genre
Sexual Content: PG13 - there's a couple attempts to push a girlfriend into having sex but stopped, alcohol use and over use, but it does it in a way to encourage better choices

I see this as being a good fit for the middle grade to YA reader who likes fantasy adventures. It's really a pretty good start to a new series and has some fun and interesting twists to it.

One of my main issues with it was the pace of the book was definitely off... Slow in parts and then way too fast in others- especially the fight scenes seemed way too easy. My other problem was that this really felt too much like a teen version of a daytime soap opera with a fantasy twist of course... It's is just not something I personally enjoy.

The narrator did a great job with the differentiation between voices and overall acting was pretty good. I did listen a bit faster at around 1.25x speed.

I liked it enough to finish listening.

Narrator isn't horrible but I think a different voice would have been better. That being said I personally would have been better off reading this instead of listening, Story is good but lacks depth in a few areas. Also wasn't a fan of the first person journal approach.

The perfect blend of adventure and romance!

In "Knight School" by Robert G. Culp, skillfully narrated by James Creighton, the perfect blend of adventure and romance unfolds in this captivating YA Urban Fantasy. With magic, mystery, and a ticking clock, join Jason and his friends at the Knight Academy as they face hidden dangers. Culp's writing shines, and Creighton's narration adds enchantment to a tale that's both spellbinding and short on words.

Not my cup of tea

So this is the first book of the mystic brat series. I should have listened to this first, but I just couldn't get interested. I believe it is just me as other reviews rave how good this series is. I believe that it is just not for me.

Flawed but has the makings of something good.

So from what I know I think this is the guys first book so don't go into it expecting a masterpiece.

It is a pretty solid book, especially for the genre it's in. The author has some cool ideas which help build his world and the idea of knights with technology is a pretty cool one.
There are alot of cliches here as well and pacing is a bit of an issue but I do think I'd reccomend this book, especially since it's not super long.

fun story

Not too bad stuff. Fights are a bit quick for my liking, but I'm not the writer. Pretty fun story, pretty good on the character development...

Knight School: A fun and fast paced fantasy

There were a couple times the plot seemed to be a little slow, but overall I found the pacing to be good. I would’ve enjoyed a little more character development, but all together they were great chapters and I look forward to seeing how they develop further should a sequel be written. The plot was enjoyable, at times a bit dramatic, but there were some great twists and turns that definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.

Overall I enjoyed this book and will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of the author’s books.
