Publisher's summary

Kathryn Winchester, 33-years-old, has already lost three husbands to violence. The first died in the ravages of the War Between the States, the next died in a gambling hall in Hays, Kansas, and the third was killed in a pointless gunfight in Montana. Now her fourth husband, Ira, has been mysteriously gunned down and lies near death on the floor of their Idaho ranch house.

Raised as a Quaker, Kathryn makes the hardest decision of her life in taking up her husband's rifle. With assassins at every turn, she sets out to save her husband and the ranch. With the help of her Shoshone friend, a banker, her homesteading neighbors who are no match for the enemy gunmen, and Vest McShannock, the gambler with a shattering secret, Kathryn leads the fight which becomes the most desperate battle of her life.

Amazing Novel of the Old West

Here is a great novel to those who love westerns and a great mystery. The characters are believably human and have characteristics of true bravery. I’ll definitely listen to this one over and over.

Great Story - Great Narration!

This is the second Kirby Jonas book I have read/listen to. I chose his books, because it was said he was another Louis L'Amour. The first book I read was good, Lady Winchester is great!

Kirby Jonas is similar to L'Amour in his ability to transport you into the story. With both authors it's as if you're there, riding the trail with the main characters of the book. That's a rare gift, most books are more like watching a movie.

Kirby Jonas also has the ability, like L'Amour, to describe settings and territory you can picture in your minds eye, without excessive words.

Another way Kirby Jonas is like L'Amour is he spends countless hours in research, and takes painstaking care to be precise with details.

Whether you like Westerns, or not, you should like Lady Winchester. The story takes place in Idaho Territory in the 1880's. There was little law, and the law there was had hundreds of square miles to cover. So when Kathryn (Kate) Winchester's husband is shot down by unknown assassins it is up to her to find out who wants him dead, and why. But Kathryn Winchester was raised as a peaceful Quaker and knows nothing about protecting herself, so she must learn the hard ways of the West in order to protect her family and survive.

Kirby Jonas is an incredible author.

Where does Lady Winchester rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

All of Kirby Jonas books rank at the top of my favorites. I read one then set out on a quest to read them all.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kathryn Winchester was incredibly brave in spite of all odds. All of the characters were well developed and more than believable.

Have you listened to any of James Drury’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Awesome...

If you could take any character from Lady Winchester out to dinner, who would it be and why?

No changes.

Any additional comments?

I made this comment on Facebook that will illustrate my feelings on Mr. Jonas' books: I feel like I am going to have to go to some kind of meeting and say, "My name is Bob and I am a Kirby Jonas book addict." I can't put his books down. I have read / listened so most of his books in the last couple of months. Kirby is the most compelling author whose works I have ever read. Thanks Kirby Jonas. You have a talent like none other.
