Publisher's summary

Brighton, England, 1820

Amelia Moore wants only one thing - to secure the future happiness of her younger sister, Clara. With their stepfather’s looming death, the two sisters will soon be on their own - without family, a home, or a penny to their names. When an invitation arrives to join a house party at Lakeshire Park, Amelia grasps at the chance. If she can encourage a match between Clara and their host, Sir Ronald, then at least her sister will be taken care of.

Little does she know that another guest, the arrogant and overconfident Mr. Peter Wood, is after the same goal for his own sister. Amelia and Peter begin a rivalry that Amelia has no choice but to win. But competing against Peter - and eventually playing by his rules - makes Amelia vulnerable to losing the only thing she has left to claim: her heart.

Loved it!

I'm so happy I stumbled upon this book by Megan Walker. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and characters and the book had a satisfying ending. This isn't the first time I've heard the narrator, Justine Eyre, and I enjoy her narration as well. I will be checking out Megan's other books.

Love the main characters and storyline

The main characters are easy to love and cheer for. It’s only slightly predictable Because of the genre, but it was still clean with enough “spice” to keep cheering for the kiss and for them to get together.

A Perfect Regency Romance!!

How can two sisters find happiness? Could both hope for a true love story and not a marriage for the sake of survival?

I loved everything about this book! The storyline is beautifully Austenesque with interesting characters and unexpected twists-creating such a delightful love story.

I read, interchanging the ebook and audiobook which were both entertaining. I have quickly become a Justine Eyre fan so this audiobook was as exceptional as the story itself. Her accent, character portrayals and pacing was first-rate. She really brings this story to life. I am sure I will listen to this book again and again.

This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language.

Enjoyable enemies to lovers period romance

I actually really like this story, it had a unique concept. Our main characters were the champions of their sisters instead of just themselves. I also really liked the interaction with the horses. A lot of books add animals and kids to endear you to the MC, but it falls flat for me and is distracting. However, in this book, there’s a scene where the h and H save a young colt, and I found it very touching and it was important to the progress of the story. Not a perfect story, but at least the author had some creativity. I have read or listened to over a hundred regency romances that all seem to blend together, but this one stood out as a little different. Give it a chance if you have a credit to spare.
