I think it is great

I like this a lot. It contains phrases that you learn through repetition. Admittedly, the Cyrillic lettering in the study booklet is daunting. I recommend starting with the ebook "Russian Alphabet in 33 Moves" by Olga Nather and then once you know the values of the letters to use the "Learn in Your Car" recordings.

There is a lot of information in the course. Don't expect to learn the language with this. But, you can learn about the Language. If you want a start on studying the Russian language this is a good cheap place to start.

Don't Drive & Learn, but Use This to Study/Review

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes. This audiobook is for people who want to learn Russian as it would be in a basic course. Audible provides the accompanying text as a PDF download, so it's not totally audio.

A good way to revise and learn Russian

What made the experience of listening to Learn in Your Car: Russian, the Complete Language Source the most enjoyable?

I have liked the basic phrases very varied and with the pdf file, it is easy to follow the lessons.

Any additional comments?

To me it is an excellent book to listen to while driving or at home

A good tool, but not your only tool

For someone who's been working to learn the Russian language for a while, I've found this to be a great resource. Especially listening to it as an audiobook, it clearly will benefit auditory learners, but it won't help you read Russian.

When I discovered there are downloadable learning guides for the audiobook, I got excited. When I downloaded them, however, the files would not open and are completely useless to me.

I've been using this audiobook as a tool to help familiarize me with useful phrases, to work on my pronunciation, and to work on my listening skills. The chapter I found most familiar so far is chapter 21, which covers many verbs in their infinitive forms.

Aside from the fact that the listening guide appears to be broken, My only real complaint is with the organization of some of the content. I've gone through the aforementioned chapter 21 at least 50 times, but because some of the related words are separated in their presentation, it has been harder for me to make some connections between them. They did a great job placing "to buy" and "to sell" next to each other, as they did with "to open" and "to close". Had they similarly placed "to come," "to go out," and "to depart/walk away" together, it would have been easier to learn learn them, as they have a common core (ходить) with different prefixes changing the meaning: приходить ("to come"), выходить ("to go out"), and отходить (" to depart/walk away"). In addition, an occasional explanatory section would have been welcome, and would have improved the efficacy of the recording.

Not Effective At All :(

Someone just reads an English word and then someone else repeats the Russian translation two times.. Then the next word, etc. I am sorry but if you can learn like this just get a dictionary and read it. This audiobook offers no real technique, it's just word repetition. For me this was a waste of money and (more importantly) time. Just my 2 cents.

Worst language audiobook ever

Don't waste your time and money in this book. It's just a bunch of words repetition without context. No technique at all for really learning a language. I should have stayed with Pimsleur, more expensive but really useful.
