The City of Laketon, Michigan hosts a car ferry hub that crosses Lake Michigan to the city of Magawakin, Wisconsin each day. The ferry, also known as the Wolverine, crosses with a host of vehicles and passengers for the eight-hour round trip. Travelers enjoy top deck amenities such as a restaurant, movie theater, live entertainment, and fun things for kids, including a play area for children and a gaming room for teens.
Asher’s father arrives in town and begins making demands, but will the final deal he offers Asher be too good to turn down? How might this new opportunity for Asher leave Max and Violet in a lurch? Unfortunately, he might learn too late that the greatest blessings in life simply can’t be bought. One four-hour trip across the lake is all the time he has to make it right and get back to the life he now can’t live without.
Violet can’t believe, after all the care that Asher showed to Max and her, that he decides to take his father’s offer. She is angry, yet determined to throw herself into her work and forget about him, when all of the sudden they get stranded on the Wolverine together one afternoon. Ripping away the charade, they lay everything bare, and with the help of Max, find a compromise all of them didn’t see coming.
