About this listen

When I tried to leave, Grave forced me to stay. He's obsessed with me, and not in the good kind of way. Griffin is out of the game, but he gives me a piece of information that can set me free.

"There's only one guy Grave's afraid of. If you want him dead, I suggest you make an alliance."

"Who's the guy?" I ask.

"Cauldron Beaufort. But you didn't hear that from me."

I travel to Cap-Ferrat, in the south of France, and find this powerful man.

But he's not the least bit interested in helping me.

Not for free, at least.

If I want his protection, I'll have to make it worth his while.

Alphahole. 10/10 steam. Sassy heroine. Dark romance.

sometimes less is more.

i love her writing but the sex was a bit too much. sometimes less is more. it was like the story didnt really get going until a few chapters past the smut. there is a thin line between steamy and pointless sex. it was nice to hear of Bones again. i love the readers.

Another masterpiece by Penelope Sky!!

Can a woman escape a monster and survive?
Dose she find her savior? Do you think Cauldron is playing fair? Does his hatred for Grave go further than his feelings for the woman sleeping in his home? Does he fall for her while playing his little game with Grave? we will see what happens in the next book........

Penelope!!!!

Another great story. But heads up it’s a trilogy with a huge cliffhanger. Also, the female narrator was horrible but the male narrator was good. The female narrator sounded angry with a valley girl twist that didn’t match the character. I’ve decided to read the next book.

Favorite author, favorite narrators.

Wow- this book was so interesting, I finished it over two days. Both characters are complex, flawed, and morally grey. Penelope Sky writes dark romance so we’ll and the narrators bring her words to life. Anxiously awaiting book 2!!

great story great male lead

I cannot stand the female narrator. not her character but the narrators voice. I LOVE Michael (male narrator) but Samantha is really kinda whiny and over does every single word. it was hard to get through solely bc of her.

A 3.5 OK LISTEN, A TRILOGY & A CLIFFHANGER ENDING

Camille is a Courtesan.. a self-confessed, self-obsessed whore who needs protection from Grave, the controlling, threatening, obsessed, dangerous Billionaire who wants to marry her and is keeping her most cherished possession as blackmail. Well, who better to protect her than another equally dangerous Billionaire.. but Diamond Magnate Cauldron is a whole different cold, ruthless asshole than Grave. And the sex for safety arrangement Camille makes with him to keep herself safe won’t protect her heart when she gives it freely and gets heartache in return. And Grave isn’t giving up his fight.

I’ve loved Penelope Sky’s other dark and deliciously addictive series.. along with the couples who’ve fought their attraction, their hurdles and given in to lust then love. However, I have mixed feelings about Camille and Cauldron who both use each other for what they individually want with no romance nor warmth of emotions as this trilogy’s web ebbs and flows with sex and lust. And I just didn’t warm to Camille who came across as a needy, very demanding, spoilt user who instantly (and too easily) cuckooed herself into Cauldron’s life. He is Ms. Sky’s typical dark, cold, ruthless, alpha, moody anti hero dictator. As the pawns and players manipulate and make their moves, there’s angst, a whole lotta sex, a drip-feeding of secrets, a betrayal and a slight thawing from the handsome ice man himself as Camille’s magic pu$$y and bj’s ensnares another Billionaire.

Worth a credit? This dual POV first book was only a medium enjoyment level for me - until the drama-filled bombshell that left a cliffhanger ending I now want to follow. So I’m viewing this as a creditworthy necessary stepping stone for what’s (hopefully) to come.
