Resumen del Editor
With the stock market turning into a roller-coaster ride of all-time highs and stomach-churning lows, where does that leave your portfolio? Pretty much back where you started in 2000. Which may be fine for visitors to Six Flags, but for your retirement, savings, and investments, you’d like to actually get somewhere.
In The Little Book of Sideways Markets, respected value investor and author Vitaliy Katsenelson show you how to survive a stagnant market that’s neither bull nor bear but instead what he calls a cowardly lion—it displays occasional bursts of bravado but is ultimately overcome by fear.Katsenelson, known for the commonsense principles he has written frequently about in the Financial Times, Bloomberg, Businessweek and elsewhere, decodes the theories and cuts to the chase with practical and timely strategies for how you can survive and thrive during the sideways market—a state of affairs, by the way, we should expect for the next decade. He’ll show you:
- Why your investments will stall in neutral and what to do about it
- Why, despite its place as the Rodney Dangerfield of investing, you should treat mean reversion with respect
- Why Tevye was a rich man—and what you can learn from his purchase of Golde, the cow
- How the dire state of economic affairs in China and Japan will impact your investments, and what to do about it
- The three crucial concepts of value investing—Quality, Growth, and Valuation•
- How focus on process, boring as it may sound, leads to success
- Why you should become a born-again value investor
- How to break bad habits and find, buy and sell stocks in a sideways market
Making progress in a sideways market is difficult, but the lively and entertaining Little Book of Sideways Markets will help you triumph even when the market is stalled.

Lynch is the former manager of the $9 billion Fidelity Magellan Fund, where he earned investors a $190,000 return on a $10,000 investment.

But are the skills they possess transferable? And do they have anything to teach us besides making money? In Richer, Wiser, Happier, William Green draws on interviews that he’s conducted over 25 years with many of the world’s greatest investors. You may be surprised to learn that microchips are the new oil—the scarce resource on which the modern world depends. Today, military, economic, and geopolitical power are built on a foundation of computer chips. Virtually everything—from missiles to microwaves—runs on chips, including cars, smartphones, the stock market, even the electric grid. Until recently, America designed and built the fastest chips and maintained its lead as the #1 superpower, but America’s edge is in danger of slipping, undermined by players in Taiwan, Korea, and Europe taking over manufacturing.

In the beginning was the loan, and the loan carried interest. For at least five millennia people have been borrowing and lending at interest. Yet as capitalism became established from the late Middle Ages onwards, denunciations of interest were tempered because interest was a necessary reward for lenders to part with their capital. And interest performs many other vital functions: it encourages people to save; enables them to place a value on precious assets, such as houses and all manner of financial securities; and allows us to price risk.

Great content but narration terrible
The content is great but was very difficult to listen to as the narrator sounds like a sing song computer generated voice. They really could have done better.

Good Book, Solid Strategy, Fails in 1 Way
Thesis here is that markets are overvalued, stock index growth over next few years will be slow. Suggested strategy: "active value investing" - buy high quality growth stocks that are undervalued, then sell when the price rises to full value. Also, buy high quality growth stocks that pay a high dividend. Main shortcoming of book: no good method to tell when it's time to sell in the "active value investing" approach. But most books fail in this regard. Knowing when to sell is one of the toughest problems in active investing.

Great book, annoying performance
Love everything by Vitally, but the speaker in this audiobook has an extremely annoying inflection at the end of every sentence that really distracts from the content.
