About this listen

Second chances are possible but only if the lies and compromises are gone.

Martin had lost his first wife and daughter in a horrible car accident and it took him years to fight the sadness he woke up with every day. When he met Elaine everything changed. He married her and their new life made Martin forget all the pain. Once again life was good.

After feeling such happiness the second time around Martin never expected tragedy to once again be knocking at his door, but it had. If Martin had known the truth about Elaine's past he would have been able to help her but her fear of the truth became her reality and the fact that they loved each other didn't seem to be enough. Elaine came up with a solution she thought would be for the best. Martin went along with her plan but it put him in a compromised position and very unhappy, but he loved his wife so much he agreed to live her lie.

The stakes were very high but Martin thought in time he could change her mind but as the years passed the only thing that changed was Elaine. She became withdrawn and uneasy and finally when things got out of hand and Martin couldn't control anything that happened it was a downward spiral and everything they had worked to achieve began to crumble.

Could Martin save his wife from herself? Would Elaine let that happen?

For love, Martin would do anything and Elaine loved him for that, but would that be enough?

Love is Blind 💞

Elaine Lewis is a socialite with good friends and a wonderfully caring husband.
She appears to have everything but appearances can be deceiving.
Underneath the facade she's deeply troubled and harboring a secret that causes her to be mentally unstable.
Martian's the kind hearted doctor/ husband who's inability to help his wife causes him to live in denial pretending his marriage is fine.
But eventually Elaine and Martian will have to face Elaine's self destructive behavior in order to move forward towards their new future.
This book would make a good lifetime movie.
The only thing that could have made this romance better is more passionate details in the bedroom.
I'm not saying extreme dirty words were necessary because this isn't that kind of book but, the intimate scenes are so abruptly cut that it's hard to feel the attraction between these characters.
In certain situations this caused me to wonder why Elaine even made some of the choices she makes.
Other than that the story is well written.
I was gifted this book by the narrator Kevin Iggens (who did an excellent job of acting the parts of these characters with his pleasant even tone) in exchange for my honest review.
In a nutshell.. if your looking for a good clean realistic romance this book is worth the credit.

A Very Different Love Story

I found this book to be different. It took me a while to get into it. I was glad that Martin did not allow his tragedy to make him stop loving Elaine. I am also glad that he was man enough to keep in constant contact with his son in spite of the circumstances. It took a lot of effort for me to like Elaine because she seemed so selfish. She had three good men, well two and one who could be good with the right woman in love with her but she allowed her past to dictate her present. I was sad when her friend's heart gave out but it was the kick in the butt that Elaine needed to begin to heal. The narrator was good but I had to speed up the book because he seemed to speak in the same tone throughout. I got this ARC via audiobook boom.
