historical romance

Milly Shepherd ispromised the job as manager of the club she works at IF no man shows up with better qualifications. Milly needs the money to survive.

Joseph Jacobs is looking to supplement his income to help pay off his fathers debts. He finds out the pub is hiring a manager and goes for an interview.

Milky gets the manager job and Jacob takes the job as bartender. After working together they have a connection. The 2 must decide to pool their resources and their feelings, or go on alone.

This was a short but good story. I loved listening to Rebecca McKernans accent while listening to this story. She made the story even better.

Great lead character

Milly Shepherd is a great lead character, strong, hard working, loyal, and determined.

Milly and Joseph started life at opposite ends of the class system, however changing circumstances have caused them to meet in the middle and sparks fly. The chemistry between them is really well done and I enjoyed watching their romance develop.

A quick read, this book was fun to listen to. The narration is well done, the character voices are convincing and the delivery was smooth and well paced.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Great Story

I got this ARC via audiobook boom and this is my volunteer review. I loved this story and the way the hero and heroine worked together to save both of their families really made for a good combination of events that made this story fun and believable. The entire concept and presentation were well developed and interesting.

Quick Listen

The concept of debtors prison seems like extortion. I liked how one of the main characters (Joseph) was doing everything for love to keep his father out of debtors prison. Milly was my favorite character of the book. She wore her feelings on her face. I loved how she saw the best in everyone. Milly and Joseph had instant attraction and great chemistry. How they faced their fears was great. The narrator added to the enjoyment of the book with her smooth delivery. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

Short and sweet. Literally!

I devoured this book in one sitting. It was the perfect novella.

I loved the two main characters. You instantly felt the raw emotion and the degree of desperation. What we do for our families, right?

I could have used a better ending, or an epilogue, but all in all, a very enjoyable listen. The narration was really well done as well.
