About this listen

Kelly Moreau returned from Afghanistan to the Turtle Mountains to heal and forget. But peace for this former marine would not come easy, as she is immediately drawn into a family mystery that will take her across North Dakota in search of a long-lost battlefield and the site of a desperate Métis stand against overwhelming hostile forces. What is her connection to a brutal slaying on the North Dakota prairie over 150 years ago? Are the answers in a hidden grave?

Based on actual events that occurred near North Dakota’s Dog Den Butte.

Loved it

Although rushed in some places while trying to add certain contacts, overall I really loved the historical scope of the book and the story.

worth the credit and the time

I appreciated the narrative device of a modern story that weaves the history of a little known and largely forgotten culture into the story line. I especially enjoyed listening to it as I was driving across the prairies of ND, made the miles fly by almost unnoticed!
