Publisher's summary
Jack Reacher has no place to go and all the time in the world to get there, so a remote railroad stop on the prairie with the curious name of Mother's Rest seems perfect for an aimless one-day stopover.
He expects to find a lonely pioneer tombstone in a sea of nearly ripe wheat...but instead there is a woman waiting for a missing colleague, a cryptic note about 200 deaths, and a small town full of silent, watchful people. Reacher's one-day stopover becomes an open-ended quest...into the heart of darkness.
Prepare to be nailed to your seat by another hair-raising, heart-pounding adventure from the master of the thriller genre!

Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. Story
Meet John Milton. He considers himself an artisan. A craftsman. His trade is murder. Milton is the man the government sends after you when everything else has failed. Ruthless. Brilliant. Anonymous. Lethal. You wouldn't pick him out of a crowd but you wouldn't want to be on his list. In this second dip into his case files (see 1000 Yards for a further novella), Milton is sent to Italy to investigate the death of a colleague from Group 15.

Someone gives you a dangerous puzzle to solve, one that may kill you or someone else, and you're about to fail...and there is no other option. No one who can help. No one but the Bricklayer. The Bricklayer is the pulse-pounding novel introducing Steve Vail, one of the most charismatic new heroes to come along in thriller fiction in many years. He's an ex-FBI agent who's been fired for insubordination but is lured back to the Bureau to work a case that has become more unsolvable - and more deadly - by the hour.

Sometimes a man can be redeemed. But not in the way he expects. Jason Stafford is a former Wall Street hotshot who made some bad moves, paid the price with two years in prison, and is now trying to put his life back together. He’s unemployable, until an investment firm asks him to look into possible problems left by a junior trader who died recently in an accident. What he discovers is big - there are problems, all right, the kind that get you killed. But it’s not his only concern. Days before the July Fourth holiday and the dedication of One World Trade Center at Ground Zero, an incident aboard a commercial jet flying over the Atlantic Ocean reminds everyone that vigilance is not a task to be taken lightly. But for iconoclastic NYPD detective Jeremy Fisk, it may also be a signal that there is much more to this case than the easy answer of this being just the work of another lone terrorist. Fisk suspects that the event might also be a warning sign that another scheme has been set in motion.

Another hit for Lee Child
Even when Child's book isn't his best, it's still great. I'm never disappointed with the narrator, my real Reacher, who perfectly depicts the large, enigmatic protagonist. As usual, the antagonist were a bunch of dudes who didn't know when to leave well enough alone. The biggest question, does he ride off into the sunset alone or with a companion?

Not Impressed
I’m not impressed by this book. I didn’t like the voice given to Reacher” and any of the women. It was irritating! The story was classic “Reacher” story but seemed shallow and short. I didn’t get much satisfaction for it. I thank the author for not having any narrated “sex” scenes... in other books- they are really creepy and awkward.
