Enjoyed the book / love the Cross series. Narrators make the book's characters come alive.

Performance was good except for gang member voices were funny. Exceptional story & Ali is back best ending evet

not the best Alex Cross

This book was not Patterson's best. I enjoyed the "3 readers" though (the voice of the killer sounds a lot like Nick Cage). I just wasn't connected enough to the plot - which seemed vague, even at the end. I was also not interested in Alex's love life, and all the cliches. His character grew weaker for me as his multiple "gee gosh" love interests just seem to be more and more perfect and adoring. Hard to imagine him as a stealth investigator when he's such a bumpkin with everything else in his personal life.

Alex Cross solves another!

Alex Cross does not disappoint you! He leaves you wanting more as usual. I love the way he is both the therapist and street cop!

Mary, Mary, quite contrary...

"Contrary" kept running through my head the whole book, whether defined as the opposite direction that one might take or being the opposite of someone or something. With regard to Cross's personal life, it did go in the other direction with Alex finally wising up. And with regard to the identify of the killer, it was the opposite of who everyone (but Alex) believed it to be, but that was obvious from the beginning. (A few plot holes in there, but I'm learning to just accept them and move on.)

This is a book meant for Alex Cross fans; the main plot was not one to keep the interest of crime/mystery lovers. For myself, I like reading about the Cross family and wish more time was spent on exposition with regard to it. A few sentences is not enough to explain Christine's actions during the custody hearing. Sounded like more was going on, but that subplot was not pursued.
