Publisher's summary

On a remote island off the coast of Maine, a troubled family is trying to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives and start over. But, unbeknownst to them, the property they have inherited is steeped in ancient magic - magic that could seek to destroy and devour them.

An arcane locked box, a strange and foreboding trail into the woods, a seductive young woman, and tales of a malevolent Indian spirit are just some of the perils Karen Andersen must face in order to find a way to save her family.

I enjoyed this book.

Good book. A few surprises with a good ending. I would recommend this to others

This book was dissapointing

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Delivery on the plot that was advertised.

What could Linda Watkins have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The "mystery" of the island is really the back ground of the story. Title should have been Cheating on mysterious Matuguas island. She should write romance novels instead of thrillers.

What three words best describe Christina Delaine’s voice?

She was ok. I found the child's voices to be incredibly annoying though.

What character would you cut from Mateguas Island?

By the time I quite I didn't care about any of them. Lame.

Any additional comments?

I couldn't finish the book. The mystery was hardly touched on through the first 2/3rds. It is mostly about a bitter wife and the infidelity of the couple. Boring, when you are expecting a thriller. By the time the mystery part started to pick up I no longer cared about the characters, and thought how stupid that they are even together any longer at this point regardless of the children. The children would have been better served had the parents split...etc. etc.

Cheese anyone?

Except for the foul language and adultery, I would have thought this was written for teens or even pre-teens. So sorry I wasted a credit...

Eh..

So this book makes this husband and wife out to be Jerks and B's. I didn't care for the adultery & one of the "twins" sounded like she'd been "touched". You've got 2 normal girls & 1 sounds like a bright 10 year old, but the other one sounds like a 3 yr old. The Shouting by the narrator everytime the 3yr/narrator said anything became really annoying. I had to keep turning the volume down each time the child "spoke". I really thought the story had a chance but it took too many clichéd turns.
