Publisher's summary
Discover the love story that captured over 20 million hearts in Me Before You, After You, and Still Me.
They had nothing in common until love gave them everything to lose...
Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life - steady boyfriend, close family - who has never been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex-Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life - big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel - and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is.
Will is acerbic, moody, bossy - but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, she sets out to show him that life is still worth living.
A Love Story for this generation, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common - a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?

Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

There was a time when the world was sweeter...when the women in Beaufort, North Carolina, wore dresses, and the men donned hats.... Every April, when the wind smells of both the sea and lilacs, Landon Carter remembers 1958, his last year at Beaufort High. Landon had dated a girl or two, and even once sworn that he'd been in love. Certainly the last person he thought he'd fall for was Jamie, the shy, almost ethereal daughter of the town's Baptist minister....

So Sad, but interesting
Good. Kept my interest, but extremely sad. It is difficult to even imagine what it must feel like to be a quadriplegic. The main feeling I get is claustrophobia. Our male protagonist is a quadriplegic and is extremely depressed about his condition. Before his accident he was an extremely active man who loved sports of all kind. Now he cannot move and cannot even take care of his basic needs. He wants to end it all. His mother does not want to let him go. She hires a female as an assistant caregiver. A male caregiver takes care of the quadriplegic's bodily needs and the female protagonist is there to take care of his emotional health. She has six months to try to get him to want to live. She desperately tries to improve his life and in the process they fall in love. Can she save him?

Heavy - A Thought Provoking Journey
I'll admit that I watched the movie before I read the book. I am not really a romance movie or novel type of person, but this one intrigued me enough that I considered the premise something I would truly be able to entertain. There is a scene in the movie near the end where I just about broke down. A simple gesture of "hand on shoulder" that I felt grasped the depth of what was happening. I just knew I had to read the book if there was one.
And so I did. And I cannot even express how much better the book was. I felt the movie did the book a disservice by leaving out the tension felt by everyone. The distrust. The melancholy actions. Through the novel, I was able to better understand and grasp the feelings of each character. To understand the choices they made and learn to love each for what they do for Will. I especially loved Lou. She was a well written character that had a believable backstory. The foundations for who she was and why she was, made her feel like a friend, not a role-model, which is what turns me off of other books like this. I thought it was great, right down to the last moment.

Overwhelming
I had already read this amazing book some years ago. When I saw it on Audible, I just could not help but give it a listen. It is even better in audible – the narrator is amazing!

I adored this audio book!
What did you love best about Me Before You?
I adored this book. I listened to the audio version, and it was near perfect. I have not stopped thinking about these characters, and it’s been several days since I finished the book. I will be listening to After You as soon as my heart is ready.
