Publisher's summary

Maria and Dwayne were inseparable as kids, they knew that they were meant to be together, and they thought nothing could tear them apart.

But then a freak accident ruined everything.

Now, by some miracle, Dwayne has reappeared in Maria's life - as her boss. The old attraction is still there, burning embers under the surface, but of course she can't act on it now.

But as they grow closer, and he starts to let her in once more, she realizes that there's much more under the surface now, a past the she knows nothing about. Is it something they can overcome, or will it break them apart all over again?

Warning - This story has hot and steamy content and is not suitable for all ages. 18+.

A terrific story with a backdrop that is too often realty. I don't want to give anything away so I will just say I'm glad to see this addressed in a positive way. The characters and situations were realistic. Lissa Blackwell did a fabulous job portraying all the characters and emotions.

I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

Well

This book was given in exchange for an unbiased review via audiobook boom. This was a story that worked through a child who turned himself into a billionaire after being abused and neglected. He lost his parents and was sent to live with relatives who did not want him. It is told from the girl's point of view who loved him before he was sent away. When they meet again he has just bought the company she works for. Although a short story, it was complete. There was too much sex for less than a two-hour story. But the story ended well. Dewayne did not become bitter he became an advocate for others who suffered as he had.

The boy next door

Sweet novella...Maria walks into the office of the new owner of her company and discovers ‘the boy next door’. Dwayne was her bff growing up but then he moved away when they were 15 after his parents were killed. At first he acts as if he doesn’t know her then, over the next few weeks, he behaves like a bear. However, over time the two rekindle their relationship. Dwayne has a dark past and Maria is patent and supportive as he works through the anger and pain. The story dragged a bit about midway but we are rewarded with a sweet HEA...❤️❤️

Sucker for second chance romance

This short second chance romance had me listening from the beginning and had me til it ended. I love short novellas in between longer books, and this was the perfect escape. Dwayne, a dark billionaire meets up with his childhood next door neighbor, Maria at work. He initially pretends he doesn't recognize her, which was puzzling, but she made sure he remembered. This story while having its steamy scenes, took us on the their journey together, working through Dwayne's troubled past. Since the unexpected death of his parents, Dwayne has suffered greatly, and only Maria can help him through it.

Lissa Blackwell narrates this wonderfully.

A Story of Second Chances...

Any additional comments?

Maria and Dwayne grew up together but tragedy stuck and they were separated.

They each have issues to deal wit and Dwayne is not the person that Maria has remembered.

The story line was a bit predictable but it was an overall quick entertaining read, good for the

weekend.

Lissa Blackwell did ok with the narration.

Maria and Dwayne

This was a great second chance romance. There is a lot in this very short book and it has a lot packed into it, especially with Dwayne's very dark past. The pace was great.

Lissa Blackwell did a good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A hot sexy romance with history

Well... this is a surprisingly intense story considering it's not very long. It sure packs a punch with lots of hot sexy fun, some tension and some rocky sailing. (Please forgive the mixed metaphors.)

I really liked Maria as a character, she's determined and loyal. She's also willing to ride out the tough times having faith that it's going to work out in the end and it will all be worth it. Talk about a bunch of characteristics and behaviors that are worth copying.

And her chemistry with Dwayne? Smoking hot!

If you're looking for something hot with plot... bingo...

As always Lissa delivers great character voices and a lovely smooth narration with plenty of emotion being conveyed.
