Publisher's summary

Not every love story begins or ends with the passion of a bodice-ripper. Some develop slowly - an occasional look or a choice word the only spark they ever know. Some endure adversity - lies, infidelity, or opposition creating flames of distrust instead of the warm thaw of a hesitant heart. And some are so unlikely, so unexpected - no one sees the connection coming, not even the lovers themselves.

Mine to Tell is a gentle story of adversity and forgiveness, a tale of mystery you won't forget.

Unique

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. Injustice comes in many forms and through many people but eventually, the truth comes out. We think that this story could only have happened in the near past but it could and probably is happening today just hidden better. Glad the granddaughter was compelled to go back and find out what really happened to clear the entire family's name. Sometimes it just takes one person willing to do the hard thing to make everything right. Good story.

Mine to Tell

Annabelle Crouse is a young journalist who decides to go home to reopen her great-grandmother's boarded-up house and find out why she was living separately from her husband, stepsons, and son.
Julianne was to live in a separate home from her husband and boys because she left for an unexplained trip for a couple weeks. He bully husband turned an old shed into a house for her, and kept her there as punishment.
Despite her family's disapproval, Annabelle slowly uncovers the story of Julianne through hidden messages in Julianne’s bible, old letters, and other memorabilia.
This was a very clever way to tell 2 different stories. I enjoyed getting to know Julianne through Annabelle’s eyes. The Julianne story was fantastic yet tragic. The Annabelle story wasn’t quite as good, especially the ending. I did enjoy this book very much despite the ending.

Mystery

I really enjoyed the story of Annabell's great grandmother. Finding out why her family has been shunned for many years and the secrets that were opened was amazing.

The narrator was ok. I did notice at times the sentences all ran together. Also there were times that I didn't know she was speaking of the grandmother's story. Needed to be a little more distinction between the story and the letters.

I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

Outside the box...

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This wasn't my normal listen. The premise was unique and what I was drawn to because I find many books in the romance genre repetitive in their basic storylines. I can't even say I'd shelve this under romance, it was so unique. Overall, I liked it...but found some of it too frilly and flowery in it's wording, descriptions and analogies for my personal taste. I did enjoy the narrator...very good in her portrayal of each character. Her voice reminded me of Grace Grant... 4 overall stars.

This is a wonderfully written story and I loved it. The author and narrator did a fantastic job. This is worthy of a movie.

A sad love story

I was gifted this amazing audible book by the author Colleen L. Donnelly, thank you.

This is a requited love story, a young woman that was wronged by the family that should have stood behind her, but they where coerced by a man of the cloth who only wanted to possess her. It took her Great granddaughter to get to the bottom of the wrong that was done and lay the travesty to rest. Annabelle freed herself, her family from the shame they so wrongly carried for all those years.
The book was as the author titled it, “Mine To Tell”and Annabelle found the clues that Julienne left in her sanctuary.
This author told a story that maybe some of the younger generations may not understand, but should read to understand what did happen to women in the not that distant past. Kudos Colleen for reminding all of use women of the injustice we at one time were so indignity exposed to.

Mine to Tell is an appropriate title for this book

This is a love story told over time and only because someone cared enough to want to know the truth. Heartbreaking as this was, I really liked this book. I hurt for the love that had to suffer and the people who could have and should have had their whole wonderful lives together. The story told here was heartbreaking yet beautiful. True love never really dies. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
