Publisher's summary

Moments of Impact is an audiobook on a mission: to eradicate time-sucking, energy-depleting workshops and meetings. In our fast-changing world, organizations have important challenges and opportunities to address - and no time to waste. Moments of Impact delivers the single most useful resource for managers and leaders who need better strategic conversation - now - to shape the future of their organizations. Moments of Impact is an essential guide for ambitious leaders who get assigned the hardest and most vexing strategic issues in their organizations, for entrepreneurs trying to manage board expectations, for social change agents pioneering new business models for community impact, for hopeful educators and healthcare practitioners trying to transform slow-to-change industries, and for enterprising students committed to tackling global challenges. Drawing on decades of combined experience as innovation strategists, Ertel and Solomon articulate the purpose, principles, and practices of well-designed strategic conversations. They weave together a lively and compelling mix of social science theories and research, interviews with more than 100 thought leaders, organization leaders, and practitioners, as well as dozens of anecdotes and practical cases from diverse organizations. The audiobook also includes a Starter Kit with diagnostic questions, best practices, and tips and suggestions to enable you to put the ideas to work immediately.

Good,, but not an audiobook.

The format makes is a very interesting book. however, the list-heavy format makes it a difficult audio-listen.

Another audiobook failure. Buy the real book

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The publisher doesn't include a PDF supplement with any of the diagrams, tables, or starter kit of the actual book. The audio book is good but doesn't stand on its own.

Any additional comments?

It's very frustrating that in 2015 audible sells nothing more than the digital equivalent of audio cassette tapes. The Audible app is barely adequate, both in terms of function and the lack of features beyond just playing the narration.. Chapter markings never match the real chapters of the book making it hard to reference a position Or page. Worst of all you almost never see any of the visual elements presented in a book in its audible version. Only too rare are PDF supplements. This book is one where the diagrams and illustrations or significant but even more important is a starter kit at the end of the "real" book.

Efficently delivered excellant advice

What made the experience of listening to Moments of Impact the most enjoyable?

Real life story / presentation which proved the authors points and supported the models.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Moments of Impact?

The story around the Catholic education organization and how they succeeded in their moment to continue on.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes - why wasn't this required reading in my MBA capstone MGMT 750 class at ODU?

Any additional comments?

If you interact with people who can affect your future, or whose future you are trying to affect (steer, route, direct, etc). then this book is money well spent.

It’s worth the time to check it out

If you facilitate ideation sessions, or other strategic meeting types you should check this book out. I enjoyed the audible version so much that I purchased the hardcover to keep as a desk reference.
