the story was just as riveting as the other books, good read. New monsters revealed.

Not Really a Sequel

I enjoyed the book, but when I saw the "Monster Hunter" title I was expecting the same characters. In this one, we just get one character. It was good, but I kept expecting the others to be called in at some point to help out (and couldn't figure out why they never were). The main character from the first two books in the series is totally missing and a secondary (albeit important character) became the focus instead. IMHO, what makes a series work is that people develop an affinity for the characters, which is why they come back for the sequels. Ultimately, I enjoyed the book, but never got over the disappointment of losing the other characters.

Where does Monster Hunter Alpha rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have liked this series from the start. But unlike the other stories, this one focuses primarily on the fearless werewolf leader of MHI Earl Harbinger. Earl isn't just a b rut with a gun, he's a thinker and a lover, a man whose been fighting a crushing Monsters for a long time, and he isn't ever unready or willing to face a challenge, even if that challenge is the King of the werewolves.

What other book might you compare Monster Hunter Alpha to and why?

There really isn't anything like this series. No matter how large or small the monster is, there is always an element of danger and a chance that someone you really like will end up in extreme peril.

Which scene was your favorite?

The red-headed cop werewolf bad A$$ was by far the most enjoyable character in the novel. When she first finds herself returned to human form, and discovers her birthday suit is the only one she has, you can feel her discomfort and confusion.

Any additional comments?

While the genre is for anyone, I think this one really speaks to the male mentality. You like that the lead female is a tough, you like that she's not typical but still sexy. Earl is a cowboy, and if you're looking for romance this isn't the book for you.

I didnt think I would really like this book at first but was I wrong it was great,I loved it in fact I would say it is now one of my all time favs!

What did you like about this audiobook?

This is the third book in the Monster Hunter series, very entertaining, great story .
Oliver Wyman's performance is great, he is an asset to this story.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

if your a Jim Butcher fan and you have ran out of Dresden files books to read. This series is a good substitute, and just as entertaining as any I have listened to recently.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

nothing

Third book in and still running with action and a great story! This is Harbinger's story but still rock solid! Love it ready to download then next book! Go Monster Hunters!

Great addition to the series

Where does Monster Hunter Alpha rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Hard to say, this one is really good, but comparing this to The Wheel of Time just isn't fair to either series. That said, I love this series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Monster Hunter Alpha?

The second Alpha werewolf and Heather becoming a werewolf. The battles between Harbingener and Petrov were great.

Any additional comments?

I really like this series, the characters are likeable, in a smart mouthed fashion, and the story is slightly plausible; slightly...
It's just a really fun read (listen) that doesn't stop at the end of the book. Being a retired Infantry soldier, I like guns and this series doesn't dissipoint with descriptions of guns and the use of guns in all their forms.

Off the original path... sort of....

In the beginning I wasn't sure that I liked this book because it was focused mostly on just one of the characters from the other two books. I have grown fond of all of the hunters at MHI and missed them.

Nevertheless, I am glad I didn't stop listening, not that I could have, the story grabbed my interest pretty quickly.

Probably the strongest in the series so far. It's well preformed, well written. Fun stuff.

This novel continues the fabulous Monster Hunter International and focus on the enigmatic leader of MHI - Earl Harbinger. There's a kinds of MHI fun in this book. If you've enjoyed the previous books you'll enjoy this one as well.

If you like Urban Fantasy but haven't experienced MHI you should start with Monster Hunter International.

The performance by Oliver Wyman is - as always - absolutely top notch. Highly recommended.
