With the support of her best friend, Kasey, Kara bravely faces the challenges that come her way during her first semester of junior high. Kara encounters many new and unfamiliar obstacles that place her in some unpleasant situations. Kara learns first hand how the peer pressure of wanting to fit in and impress the older students forces her into making some wrong choices. Academic difficulties and the low self-esteem she has from her parent's divorce aren't making things any easier either. Kara must find a way to overcome these challenges if she has any hope of pursuing her passion of becoming part of the basketball team.
