Publisher's summary

More than Trump explores the phenomenal support and following of Donald Trump and how that following existed before him and will continue after him. Trump is merely the lightning rod for the ideas and policies of Americans that want to maintain a lifestyle outlined in the founding documents.

Must read for anyone who votes

Regardless of which side of the political aisle you align with, this book is an excellent overview of why Trump is/was so popular, the ideals of American politics, the structure of American government, and the results of presidential elections.

If you vote, read (or listen to) this book. It is not long. It is not complex. You can and should understand what it has to say. Regardless of whether you agree with the author or not, this book contains vital information for your ballot.

Note: I am an independent voter and have never been a Trump supporter. My review is based on the content of the book, not my own political opinions.

I Was Curious

To see if someone would provide an objective rationale for supporting Donald Trump. Sadly, in this case, I was very disappointed.

Overall, my sense was that historical examples used were very much cherry picked, there was a good deal of negativity shown toward past presidents like FDR and Lyndon Johnson, whose contributions to our country, in my opinion, loom a good deal larger than those of Donald Trump. When the author did cite some negative behavior on the part of Mr. Trump, it was a brief mention, followed by examples of where other people had done “far worse“. The pattern got old after a while.

You could hear the forced inflection of the narrator focusing on trying to persuade people, for example, that January 6 was not a “real” insurrection. Wondering if it were a false flag operation. Ignoring all of the things from J6 that have been seen, and the prosecutions that have been successfully concluded. Antifa and Black Lives Matter protesters NOT being present at the Capitol was cited as something suspicious. I found myself shaking my head.

You hear a lot of emphasis on the word “Biden“ when it comes to the DOJ and the indictments of the former president. And this is criticized at a time, when, in my opinion, the President has scrupulously avoided contact with that prosecution.

Perhaps there is something else out there that does a better job of helping to uncover positives in the presidency of Donald Trump, but this book is not that source.
