Publisher's summary

When Finn, a former British spy, is poisoned by a Russian assassin, his ex-boss Adrian, chief of MI6, wants vengeance. He also wants answers - information that only Finn's widow, Anna, knows. But the former KGB colonel who betrayed her country for love vanished with their child shortly after Finn's death.

Adrian isn't the only one eager to find Anna. Finn accessed intelligence so sensitive that the KGB are willing to kill again to protect it - a chase that has piqued the interest of the major intelligence agencies, be they government-sponsored or private, around the world. Though Medvedev has assumed the presidency, everyone knows that Putin continues to pull all the strings. Just what is Russia concealing beneath its immense new oil wealth and veil of political cordiality?

Anna holds the key to unlocking the secrets of her motherland. Taken to America for protection and information, the former Russian agent faces her greatest test: to ensure her freedom and protect her child, she must uncover the full truth before anyone else - even as friend and foe both set her in their sights.

Moving from Paris to New York, the Kremlin to the American Southwest, Moscow Sting is an absorbing and timely tale of intrigue, betrayal, fatal lies, and complex truths, told with the authentic detail and chilling insight of an experienced insider.

Critic reviews

"While the breakneck pacing and serpentine plot will satisfy espionage fans, the ingenuity and insight that Anna displays in her desperate plight leave a more lasting impression than all the spy machinations." ( Publishers Weekly)

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I saw the Author on a late night show and realized that when he said that his work was, "Truth in fiction" I realized that I was listening to something that was closer to reality than not. Reality can be boring, though I suspect he lived much of what he's written. Unfortunately it's hard to have something realistic be riviting. I wanted to be brought closer to the people in the story, rather than seeing them as chess pieces moved around. I went through both books, which I thought should have been tied together better. When I say that I wanted more, I mean I wanted more depth. More depth to the people, more intensity in the story. The endings of both were just odd. Both times I went, "What?? Seriously, it's over?? Not just going to the next section?" Someone wrote a review that said the author just seemed to get tired of writing, though I don't think that's the case. I'm not looking for a James Bond flair or level of action, just more depth. I wanted to know the people, not just listen to strangers going through life.

Instriguing spy story. Excellent reader.

Where does Moscow Sting rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Somewhere in the middle. Somewhat predictable.

Have you listened to any of Simon Vance’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

will keep you guessing right up to the end

This book was totally suspenseful & intriguing! I appreciated having a woman come out looking great as a super spy, wife & mother. The characters were very believable & the story interesting too. But the narrator really stole the show...he was great! Way to go.
