About this listen

Hester Christie has spent a blissful 18 months living in Kenya, where husband Tim is posted. But now it’s back to England to be with her two nearly grown children. She rents a house near the village of Old Quinings in England’s North Country and plans a quiet summer with the children near the inn owned by her beloved former maid Annie and her husband. But things are never quiet for long with Mrs Tim, and she must navigate curious neighbours, a dishonest landlady and a troublesome travel companion who makes an unwelcome appearance in Old Quinings, not to mention some intrigue and a bit of matchmaking for young lovers.

Top-notch - Again

I wish - oh, I wish I could read aloud as well as Lesley Mackie. In this last Mrs. Tim book, she not only does pretty well on the Italian and French bits (as far as I can tell) she gives a convincing performance of a very articulate and totally incomprehensible toddler! And of course her interpretation of the whole story is up to her usual high standard.
As for the story itself, the misunderstanding from different cultural viewpoints turns into gossip with no basis, which affects Mrs. Tim's stay in a quiet English village, leading to some hilarious situations!

Simply Gorgeous!!

I have read many D E Stevenson books and I’m
quite a fan of her writing. I’ve read all of the Mrs. Tim series & must say that this final book is by fat, in my opinion, the best!! It abounds with great characters (a few evil ones) and laugh out loud humor! The scene in the small shoe store is not to be missed!!! I just might listen to it again now!

The story of Mrs. Tim adventures continues

I loved Tony very authentic picture of life in 1930 to 50s Britain. I wish there were more.

My lifelong love

Mrs. Tim gets a job is my latest purchase from Audible. I am so delighted that audible is making available. The d e stevenson books that I love. I started reading these many years ago and I have come back to them many times when I need some thing that is grounded in values that I hold and that is also. Well, plotted and yet simple. Like a drink of water. And incredibly charming. Leslie Mackie is a terrific reader for this work.
