About this listen

Tommy and Evelyn Christie were hoping for a break from solving murders when they agreed to host Aunt Victoria and her daughters Madeleine and Elise at their London home in Belgrave Square.

Recently widowed Victoria has returned from France for the London Season, and to mend bridges with her estranged family.

None of them were prepared for the doubly shocking sight of a newborn baby and a dead body on the back doorstep of their imposing London residence.

Tommy and Evelyn face a race against time to solve the murder and the mystery of the abandoned baby before cousin Madeleine's London Season is ruined.

Characters in a Cozy Mystery

I want to visit Tommy and Evelyn. They are charming, fun, and genuinely good people. Aunt Emily is priceless though I cannot imagine how she manages to drink so much gin so early in the morning, but that is a rare occurrence. Coles has created a delightful cast of supporting characters that I enjoyed through each of her stories. It is difficult for many writers to portray genuine goodness as attractive. Coles has done that with flying colors. What I love in a cozy mystery series is to have characters that I want to read about and get to know in the midst of a difficult situation. This series fits that bill — I do wish the individual stories were longer to allow a bit more time for character development.

Ok for a quick read

I enjoyed this mystery but it got a bit slow and tedious at the end to get to the solution.

A New Setting

In this fourth book of the series, Tommy and Evelyn have agreed to host some family members for the London season. Soon after their arrival in London, a baby and a body are found on the back doorstep of their residence. Tommy and Evelyn must use their sleuthing skills to solve both cases. I enjoy this cozy mystery series, not only because it is set in the 1920's and in England, but because I appreciate the way the author portrays the romance between Tommy and Evelyn. Alex Lee's narration is great and her different voices for the various characters are delightful. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Murder and Mystery

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio version. The narrator brings the characters to life and makes you feel as though you are watching the story on your big screen TV. I especially like Evelyn and Aunt Em’s portrayal and feel this is how I “hear” them when I read.

Thank you to the author for an audio copy of the book. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

boring intermitantly.

This started out some what interesting but the characters were not very developed. I was interested in the plot but it moves slowly and kept putting me to sleep. Halfway thru the story you know who the villain will be, so disappointing.
