Publisher's summary
Murder In The Yoga Store is the true story of the brutal killing of a beautiful young woman at a chic Lululemon yoga-wear shop. The grisly murder was committed on a pleasant Friday night in upscale Bethesda, Maryland, a leafy suburb of Washington, D.C. In this riveting narrative by veteran journalist Peter Ross Range, the author for the first time brings together the tale of what really happened in the yoga store murder. He portrays the personalities of both victim and murderer, along with the strange and convoluted circumstances of the crime and its cover-up. Range meticulously exposes layer upon layer of deceit and confusion. His account builds the tension of the police investigation until the real story, so odd and creepy, takes your breath away. The drama of the murder trial is a moving emotional roller coaster built around the prosecutors, the detectives and the family of the victim.
Peter Ross Range is a longtime Washington, D.C., magazine writer. A former White House correspondent for U.S. News & World Report and foreign correspondent for Time, Range has covered politics, international affairs and war. He has written for The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic and many other publications.

It was a crime that shocked the country. On March 21, 2011, two young saleswomen were found inside a lululemon athletica store in Bethesda, Maryland, one of the nation's wealthiest suburbs. Jayna Murray, thirty, was dead—stabbed, slashed, and struck more than 300 times. Brittany Norwood, twenty-eight, was alive—tied up on a bathroom floor, her clothing ripped, her face bloodied. The tragic story of Susan Powell and her murdered boys, Charlie and Braden, is the only case that rivals the Jon Benet Ramsey saga in the annals of true crime. When the pretty, blonde Utah mother went missing in December of 2009 the media was swept up in the story - with lenses and microphones trained on Susan's husband, Josh. He said he had no idea what happened to his young wife, and that he and the boys had been camping in the middle of a snowstorm.

Verteran investigative journalist Stevie Cameron first began following the story of missing women in 1998, when the odd newspaper piece appeared chronicling the disappearances of drug-addicted sex trade workers from Vancouver's notorious Downtown Eastside. It was not until February 2002 that pig farmer Robert William Pickton would be arrested, and 2008 before he was found guilty, on six counts of second-degree murder. These counts were appealed and in 2010, the Supreme Court of Canada rendered its conclusion.

Story
The facts are brutally straightforward. On December 6, 1991, the naked, bound and gagged bodies of four girls - each one shot in the head - were found in an I Can't Believe It's Yogurt! shop in Austin, Texas. Grief, shock, and horror spread out from their families and friends to overtake the city itself. Though all branches of law enforcement were brought to bear, the investigation was often misdirected, and after eight years only two men (then teenagers) were tried.

I order another bourbon, neat. This is the drink that will flip the switch. I don’t even know how I got here, to this place, to this point. Something is happening to me lately. I’m drinking too much. My sheets are soaking wet when I wake up from nightmares of decaying corpses. I order another drink and swig it, trying to forget about the latest case I can’t shake. Crime solving for me is more complex than the challenge of the hunt, or the process of piecing together a scientific puzzle. The thought of good people suffering drives me to the point of obsession.

Editorial reviews
Jesse Einstein brings a clear voice and understated performance to Peter Ross Range’s nonfiction crime story Murder in the Yoga Store: The True Story of the Lululemon Killing.
Range, a one-time overseas bureau chief for Time, brings his reporting skills to the murder of the Washington, D.C., yoga store employee who was stabbed to death by her co-worker. Vividly evoking both the victim and the killer, the author recounts the incident, the ensuing cover-up by the murderer, and, ultimately, her arrest and trial.
Einstein trusts the power of this grisly true life story and reads it carefully – and without any overly dramatic flourishes.

For 31 years, a monster terrorized the residents of Wichita, Kansas. A bloodthirsty serial killer, self-named "BTK" - for "bind them, torture them, kill them" - he slaughtered men, women, and children alike, eluding the police for decades while bragging of his grisly exploits to the media. The nation was shocked when the fiend who was finally apprehended turned out to be Dennis Rader - a friendly neighbor...a devoted husband...a helpful Boy Scout dad...the respected president of his church. Written by four award-winning crime reporters who covered the story for more than 20 years, Bind, Torture, Kill is the most intimate and complete account of the BTK nightmare

Story
Rachel Newhouse disappeared on the night of November 12, 1998. Only months later, in the same town, Aundria Crawford lost her life in an act of unimaginable violence. As authorities worked to find clues, parole officer David Zaragoza paid a routine visit to one of his charges - Rex Allan Krebs, a violent serial rapist who'd served only 10 years of a 20-year sentence. After sending Krebs back to jail for violating his parole, Zaragoza found a key chain belonging to one of the victims. An intensive search led to the gruesome discovery of buried remains near Krebs' secluded cabin.

Story
A ship's pilot legendary for guiding mammoth freighters through the narrows of Puget Sound, Rolf Neslund was a proud Norwegian, a ladies' man, and a beloved resident of Washington State's idyllic Lopez Island. Virtually indestructible even into his golden years, he made electrifying headlines more than once: after a ship he was helming crashed into the soaring West Seattle Bridge, causing millions in damages; and following his inexplicable disappearance at age 80. Was he a suicide, a man broken by one costly misstep? Had he run off with a lifelong love? Or did a trail of gruesome evidence lead to the home Rolf shared with his wife, Ruth?

Story
On an August night in 1986, Jennifer Levin left a Manhattan bar with Robert Chambers. The next morning, her strangled, battered body was found in Central Park. Linda Wolfe goes beyond the headlines and media hype to recreate a story of a teenager whose immigrant mother was determined to make a better life for her son, a petty thief and drug user who'd been expelled from the best schools. Wasted powerfully depicts the freewheeling 1980s society that spawned a generation steeped in violence and the fatal impulses that drove Robert Chambers to kill.

Story
On June 9, 2008, the butchered body of Travis Alexander was found in his Mesa, Arizona, home. The grisly nature of his death made instant headlines: With 29 knife wounds, his throat slit, and a gunshot to the head, Travis was left to die. The prime suspect in the case was Alexander's ex-girlfriend, the attractive and soft-spoken Jodi Arias. Though Arias initially said that she was nowhere near the scene of crime, little about this case was as it seemed, and before long she had been caught lying to police. As the investigation progressed, her lies evolved multiple times before finally resting on an appalling claim: She had killed Travis in self-defense.

Story
To all appearances, Dennis Rader was a model citizen in the small town of Park City, Kansas, where he had lived with his family almost his entire life. He was a town compliance officer, a former Boy Scout leader, the president of his church congregation, and a seemingly ordinary father and husband. But Rader's average life belied the existence of his dark, sadistic other self: he was the BTK serial killer.

Great Listen for True Crime Fans
This story had me hooked from beginning to end. I couldn't stop listening!
Jesse Einstein has a great voice, too. He's a little choppy at times, but he'll be fantastic after more experience.

Heartbreaking
This is truly one of the most heartbreaking stories I have listened to. The reason for the murder is beyond unbelievable and I am so glad that the judge didn’t hold anything back when sentencing.

Good story, but told in an average fashion
This was an interesting story, which could have been presented in a more-interesting fashion. The narrator did little for me. If Lululemon's has any male sales associates, this might have been who was doing the narrating. I think a female narrator would have worked much better. The way the story was put together was also lacking. It was more a series of independent facts than it was a weaved-together story. I probably would have enjoyed it more if someone created a piece of non-fiction and based it on the true story. A 10-minute epilogue could have then summarized what actually took place. With all that said, it was a relatively short listen and one that was worth my time. Upon it's completion, I Googled the characters in the book and put together names, faces and other nuances not available in the book. And you can't do that with straight fiction. Worth the price I paid with an Audible Daily Deal.

Torturous Narration. . . and Waaaaaay Too Long
This story was of interest to me because I lived in Bethesda, just a block from Bethesda Row where the murder occured. However, the narrator's tortured reading of the book was almost too awful to continue. Thank goodness it was only 3 hours long, although with a good narrator, could have been 2.5 maximum.
Horrific story, horrific outcome for both victim and perpetrator. Not a fun read.

Poor narration
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Intuitive detective work, and justice is served The worst part is that it really happened - quite disturbing and sad.
What didn’t you like about Jesse Einstein’s performance?
Stilted, distracting and strange reading. I would recommend reading the story.

Listened to in one Day
I listened to in one sitting -- It's only 3 hours but I really enjoyed it as I missed this headline other than vaguely knowing there was a murder at a Lemon Lulu, but no more than that and it was not on my memory horizon at all. It was a great storyline and a sad tale of murder that didn't have to be. There were so many things that could have prevented this from happening, it makes one wonder if it was meant to be -- but that certainly can't be true. If it was written as fiction, it would have been considered too implausible to the reader

True Story
This audio book tells the story of a young woman employee who was murdered in the back room of a Lulu Melon store. It takes you on the hunt for the killer and the evidence/scene that the police were presented with. I found this story captivating and the true killer unfeeling and glad that justice was served.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Murder in the Yoga Store?
My annoyance with the reading
How did the narrator detract from the book?
He took the emotion from the story. It's just the facts now reading killed (excuse the pun ) story line.
