Dale Ralph Davis
About this listen
Filled with the characteristic warm humour and biblical clarity that readers and listeners have come to expect, Dale Ralph Davis’ exposition of Psalms 38-51 will help listeners to get to know God’s Word better. Each chapter begins with Davis’ own translation of the Psalm from the Hebrew, before delving into his exposition.
Peppered with sports anecdotes and references to military history, this book follows in the same vein as The Way of the Righteous in the Muck of Life: Psalms 1-12; Slogging Along in the Paths of Righteousness: Psalms 13-24; and In the Presence of my Enemies: Psalms 25-37.
For those who enjoyed Davis’ previous works, this will not disappoint. For those who are unfamiliar with his writings, allow this book to direct your eyes to the God of the psalmist and find your exceeding joy in him.

Beale, coeditor of the award-winning Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament, examines how the New Testament storyline relates to and develops the Old Testament storyline. The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Very much enjoyed this deep dive into these Psalms.
I very much enjoyed this exposition of Psalms 38-51. So much great content and so many life lessons in these chapters, and the author breaks it all down wonderfully. I really enjoyed Graham Geisler’s narration of the book as well. His voice is very pleasant to listen to and the narration overall enhances the excellence of this work. Highly recommend this piece to anyone wanting to take a deeper dive into the richness of the Psalms!
