Can't wait for the rest of the Lucy James series!

Wendy Tremont King was wonderful. She has capture the spirit of Lucy James magnificently. Loved her co-narrator Simon Prebble's authentic British voice. They make a great team. More, Please!

The beginning of the story..How they first met.

It came after I read two books. I had been feeling like I had missed something. If it had been possible, this was to be read first! A good teaser to the first book and clarified a few things!

Poor female narrator

Not a fan of the female narrator. The previous narrator used on other three books was superb. This lady has all the wrong emphases and is too sweet and slow talking. She has no spunk as Lucy. Yuck! Makes me not want to finish the amazing series. Why the change????

Pretty Good

Mr. P can get 5 stars from me anytime, for anything. Ms. King is good, doing accents and voices well. I was not enchanted by her intonation and expression but she did all right. The story itself seemed somewhat simplistic. Perhaps the full length novels in the series will appeal to me more.

An Introduction

Prequel to the Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mystery series

We meet Lucy James as she is proposed to by Johnny Rockefeller while they are touring London. Lucy has come to England to work in the theatre and to find out who her parents are. While pursuing that quest, she and Johnny become hostages during a bank holdup. Compared to other books in this series, it is very short; but, critical in getting a feel for her character. Very nicely done and as always, the two narrators have done an excellent job.

Intro to the series...

This book is listed on Audible as the 4th book of the series but on Goodreads as the 0.5 (prequel) which is more fitting the story. It takes place before Lucy James and Sherlock Holmes meet...when many people still think Sherlock is dead.

the story itself is not very intricate or original, it seems they wrote it just as a springboard into the series, to tell everyone that Lucy James can deduce almost as well as Sherlock Holmes.

Not a bad story but nothing very memorable either.

Prequel with Some Backstory

~Disclaimer: I received a free audio book copy of this book.~

This is a prequel to the series. I think as it's only 114 pages it falls into the category of a novella.

It is interesting to see how Lucy was before her path finally crossed with Sherlock. In this book Lucy gets to show a lot of her impulsiveness, intelligence and guts. So, if you enjoyed that about her in the past installments you won’t be disappointed here.

I liked the story and it was a fun quick mystery.

Narration: Two narrators for two perspectives which I always love. Both narrators are solid.

The Game Begins ...

A prequel to Lucy James mystery series (sometimes listed a book 4), the illegitimate daughter of Sherlock Holmes. The story revolves around a bank heist that goes down while Lucy is attempted to break into a safe deposit box of an unknown benefactor … trying to discover more about her past. While it was a fun escape, there wasn’t as much “mystery” as expected, although there are a few twists toward the end. Although available in kindle unlimited, the audible performance is still worth it.

I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Finally, the missing backstory on Lucy

This is for the Audible as well as the ebook. An excellent Audible. Makes Lucy come alive.

This book fills in some of the blanks in the first book, such as Johnny Rockerfeller's security guy. It would have fit in well at the beginning but I have the feeling that this will relate more to the next book, which means more than a year later. Still, a very enjoyable book. Guess I will find out when I read the next book. Now on to book 5 in the series.

I received a free Audible for this book. My opinion is voluntary and honest.
