Publisher's summary

Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson's Navigators of Dune is the climactic finale of the Great Schools of Dune trilogy, set 10,000 years before Frank Herbert's classic Dune.

The story line tells the origins of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood and its breeding program, the human-computer Mentats, and the Navigators (the Spacing Guild), as well as a crucial battle for the future of the human race, in which reason faces off against fanaticism. These events have far-reaching consequences that will set the stage for Dune, millennia later.

Featured Article: Dune (2021)—Book vs. Movie

The very first book to win the Nebula Award, Frank Herbert's Dune has long been a fixture of the sci-fi world. It's no surprise, then, that yet another filmmaker has taken a stab at bringing this classic to the screen. The latest effort, by Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve, captures the first half of the epic novel. The reviews have been generally positive, with critics and audiences blown away by the scale and sheer ambition of the adaptation. Overall, Villeneuve's 2021 adaptation of Herbert's sci-fi classic is quite faithful. But in what small ways does the film differ from the book?

Awesome

Really great book. Unexpected twist in the plot. The story lines tie into the previous books.

A Must Read!

Absolutely loved this book! If you ever wondered about the Legend of Vorian Atreides, or the Harrkinans, this book provides the insight. Thank you Herbert and Anderson for this amazing piece of fiction.

How the universe of the original Dune came to be

I just finished listening to the entire expanded Dune series. Brian & Kevin created stories and characters in their 6 pre-quals that create the universe in Frank Herbert's 6 novels. This is an epic accomplishment. I enjoyed Scott Brick's solo narration (on most) and contributions on the rest.

I love the Dune Saga.

I know a lot of people don't like the nu-Dune Saga, but I've really enjoyed it. The prequel books do have a different play to them, but they are enjoyable. After listening to them and then Dune by Frank Herbert, it really comes alive.

one long audio file

is a good conclusion to the three books. Well written and read.

But, it comes as one 20-hour audio file. More than once I lost my place, by accidentally grabbing my phone wrong. Instead of losing my place in a chapter, I lost my place in the whole book. Once going back to the beginning of the book. and had to spend a long time, approximately, finding where I left off.

Would have been better, broken into chapters, like all the other books.

love the entire dune universe.

I have always loved and cherished the dune universe since reading dune for the first time. Is wonderful to have a bit more insight into the people, events, and forces that shaped it
