My Guilty Pleasure

These books are great! I get hooked and love them. Easy listening and fun stories. My guilty pleasure!

Surprisingly Excellent

Did not think that I would like this.book. But after getting emerged in the plot and characters I find myself buying the next book. Most women buy shoes and purses, me I'd rather have a good book!

Another perfectly sarcastic character with a bit of bad luck. I laughed and smirked my way thru this reading. Can’t wait to see what other adventures lay ahead

Jane and the Horrible, terrible, no good day

Yes, the headline is stolen from a kid's book (which I enjoyed too). This is a similar premise in that Jane Jameson has a terrible boss, who fires her and instead of a severance check, gives her a gift card for $25 to a local bar. She drinks it all, and on her walk home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead.
It can't get much worse than that. Oh wait, it does!

This is a humorous, fun read/listen that was a nice change of pace from some of the other series I read. I'd liken it to a summer beach read, and the rest of the books in this series continues with Jane and her undead existence.
Other than being a vampire, its your typical girl next door with family, work, and dating issues. It's not so formulaic though that you can guess what happens (ok, not guess EVERYTHING). And sometimes, guessing what's going to happen is comforting, leading you to a familiar cosy spot of enjoyment.

I'm from the South (Virginia originally), and have never heard this particular southern accent by the Narrator, Amanda Ronconi. It took me a little getting used to. I wasn't sure at first if it was just a bad generic southern accent, but I've decided that its a unique, regional accent (the only way I could move past it). And I'm grateful that the same narrator continues in the rest of the Jane Jameson, Half-Moon Hollow series. It can be so jarring and disruptive when a new narrator comes in.
While Ronconi's characters sometimes sound a little bit like each other, on the whole, they're easy to differentiate.

I recommend this for a fun read/listen. A welcome respite when you're missing out on some girlfriend time, need to relax at the beach/poolside, or indulge in a day of pampered listening.

Love This Series!

I am so happy that I chose this series. I needed something that was rich and lighthearted in this crazy 2020. Molly Harper is a master at sarcastic humor and has literally had me laughing out loud so many times I can't count. Her stories keep you hanging on edge and wanting more. I listen to books on tape in my car and find myself many times not wanting the ride to end so that I can keep listening. If you like fantasy novels, romance novels or comedy, then these books are for you!

A Fantastic Listen

This was a well-written and humorous story! It is a unique addition to the vampire genre and the narrator does a fantastic job! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly reccommend!!

God dang you are funny

Not as steamy as I was hoping for but definitely gave several good laughs. I loved the main characters personality and the voices were very well done. Definitely worth a credit.

Excellent Start to the Series

If you enjoy laughing at the vampires on What They Do In the Shadows give this a listen. There are parts of this book that will make you laugh out loud. Jane Jamison is a wonderful heroine and you'll likely want to continue with her adventures (or miss-adventures) in the following books.

Amanda Ronconi does a phenomenal job of bringing this story and the characters to life. I love all her voices and the personality she brings with them.

Refreshing

Very refreshing and great listen. Very entertaining and way different from some of the “okay” books out today. I highly recommend.
