Publisher's summary

Go deeper into the world of Mortal Engines with these brand-new short stories, just in time for the release of the epic film produced by Peter Jackson!

Return to the world of Mortal Engines in this new book of short stories about the rebellious young aviatrix, Anna Fang. In a dangerous future world where gigantic, motorized cities attack and devour each other, London hunts where no other predator dares. But Anna Fang - pilot, adventurer, spy - isn't afraid.

The three stories show gripping, moving, exciting moments in Anna Fang's life: her childhood as a slave aboard the moving city Arkangel, a showdown against a robotic Stalker that is terrifyingly out of control, and her free life as an intelligence agent for the Anti-Traction league....

A tasty little townlet of a book.

We're going to need a bigger town! This was the most apt quote from the book. The story was clever and does some nice little twists on the greater story, and the narrator was excellent as always. It's just the story wasn't long enough. I needed a big city sized book to eat, not just this little thing. I hope the author rolls out some more stories, since he was just starting to hit his stride back in book 4.

Let this tale stir your interest in more

If you are not familiar with municipal darwinianism, start with this village-size tale of a girl and let it drag you into the universe of predator cities. You will be assimilated.

A few fun, if predictable stories!

Overall, this little compilation of stories was an entertaining listen!

For fans of the Mortal Engines series, there are a few nuggets of Ana Fang’s story that really flesh out her character... but not a ton.

There are unfortunately no big reveals that’ll shake up someone’s perspective on the series and two of the stories are well written, but predictable.

All in all, it’s a worthwhile read, especially for those who want to get to know Ana Fang better, just don’t expect any earth-shattering revelations or twists.

Don't miss this if you're a fan of Anna Fang.

Anna's story gets the fleshing out it deserves. But make sure you've read at least the first book of the mortal engines series and all 3 of the Fever Crumb series.

A nice look back

Anna Fang is a personal favorite character of mine. I loved her air of mystery and kindness. Her backstory lives up to the intrigue I felt while listening to the Mortal Engines. The stories each tell the listener a bit more about Anna as well as providing quite entertaining short stories. While they didn’t have an over arcing plot line or anything of the sort, they were fun to listen to and it was nice to hear about Anna again.
