Publisher's summary

We thought we'd play a fun prank on her, and now most of us are dead.

One last laugh for the summer as it winds down. One last prank just to scare a friend. Bringing a mannequin into a theater is just some harmless fun, right? Until it wakes up. Until is starts killing.

Luckily, Sawyer has a plan. He'll be a hero. He'll save everyone to the best of his ability. He'll kill as many people as he needs to so he can save the day. That's the thing about heroes - sometimes you have to become a monster first.

Reminds me of an 80’s movie.

This reminds me of an 80’s movie of a group of friends. I enjoyed it a lot.

this story brings like a bad creepypasta

the narrator was nice but if you're looking for a scary story keep looking. there's lots of plot holes and for a while I kept thinking this must be a parody of some sort.

Wasn't as bad as reviewer was made out to be.

I found the beginning slow but the ending make it worth the listen and the trip

What the…What?

I’m still thinking about this one.
Little confused & almost disgusted. Ha. Usually I can dig a psychological killer thriller - but I’m not sure how to take this one.
Great idea tho . Just not quite there with the clarity I don’t think. I, myself used to have a dark sick mind “so to speak” in writing, but switched genres. I’m feeling like this was a little too senseless? If that makes sense.
Not sure. Gonna ponder this a bit further. Definitely a “thinker” book.

It's fine.

This is only my second Stephen Graham Jones book. I was ultimately let down. I love his writing. I love his style. THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS is a fantastic read! This one, though...it was fine. There's nothing inherently wrong with it...it just feels like a mediocre CREEPSHOW segment. Not much else to say about it, 3/5.

Interesting

Definitely was not expecting the story to turn out the way it did! Love SGJ. The narrator was really good and made the story more immersive

Get “The Only Good Indians” instead

This was only the second book in my life I almost ended up not finishing, but I’m just too stubborn. The other was “House of the seven Gables” when I was 11 if that helps you to understand my feelings a bit better. I don’t necessarily mind a crazy story line, a thoroughly unlike-able protagonist, or a really left field last twist that didn’t need to be added to realize that yes, they are crazy at a point where you knew for sure they already were, but I do prefer a book to pick a struggle.

Sad that it ended

I was sad that it ended because I realized that was 3 hours of my life I would not get back. The plot of this is just so silly. I really tried to like this book but I just could not care any less about any of the characters. I hated the main character, and not because of what he does. I just hated him because he is an idiot. It feels like a goosebumps ripoff you would find at the dollar store.
