Disappointing

Nora Roberts is my favorite author but I did not care for this book at all. The story was a little on the boring side but mostly because of the narrator I had to force myself to listen through to the end. She did a good job on everyone except the main character Althea but it was Althea that did most of the talking throughout the book. She made Althea sound like a 16 year old but she made the 13 year old character sound like a grown woman. In addition, almost everything Althea said was in the same monotone voice that was very short and clipped. This book will definitely not remove Nora Roberts from being my favorite author since I have listened to over 70 of her books and this is the first one I did not enjoy immensely.

Good Book

Classic Roberts romance with a mystery in the plot. Narrator is easy to listen to, with a pleasant voice and speed.

I loved this book. Nora Roberts always had great books. Her readers are very talented and draw you in.

Recommended

My least favorite in this series isn't saying much because of how wonderful all the stories are. It might be because it basically has to do with missing teen, pornography, and violence. Knowing it goes on is one thing but reading it for entertainment is another.

After listening to this story, I take back what I said. Yes, it is disturbing because what is described is really happening, a lot! But, this is my review after listening in 2017:

An excellent story. I really like Althea. She is a great example for everyone who has a not so great beginning only to overcome and triumph in life. We are not victims of our past. We are what we make from the ashes.

Nightshade

Loved this book!!!!! The characters.,.,,,the plot.....,the ending. Romantic and Thrilling all in one

Liked the female lead. Male lead's attitudes were too macho, although not bullying.

When this was written and released, a lot of literary agents and publishing houses still thought that the romance genre had to be about a swaggering male overpersuading their chosen woman.
Pressuring. Not taking no for an answer, no matter what she intended for her own life.
This would NOT be a good book for introducing a man or a woman to romantic fiction. Well-written, though.
He just doesn't take no for an answer! He steamrollers over her need to go more slowly, to decide and choose!

Why is this series not all order with Book numbers

I really like this series but I have one big complaint, only book 3 and 4 are labeled and I ended up listening to the series not in order which made me crazy. I guess this is more a comment to audible and Nora's agent. The only think I really hate about some of the early books is that everyone is always smoking , but I really liked this series and the narrator was great.
