Publisher's summary

When an anonymous neighborhood forum gets hacked, the darkest secrets of New York’s wealthiest residents come to light—including some worth killing for—in this gripping suspense novel from the author of Just One Look.

Big Little Lies meets Gossip Girl in this unputdownable read as smart and witty as it is delectable . . . I raced through it!”—Liv Constantine, author of The Last Mrs. Parrish

A HARPER’S BAZAAR BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR

It was all confidential. Right up to the moment when it wasn’t.

UrbanMyth: It was lauded as an alternative to the performative, show-your-best-self platforms—an anonymous discussion board grouped by zip code. The residents of Manhattan’s exclusive Upper East Side disclosed it all, things they would never share with their friends or their spouses: secret bank accounts, steamy affairs, tidbits of juicy gossip. The same people who, as parents, go to astonishing lengths to ensure that their children gain admission to the most prestigious boarding schools and universities. So when a “hacktivist” group breaks into the forum and exposes the real identity of each poster, the repercussions echo down Park Avenue with a force that none could have anticipated.

And someone ends up dead.

Is the murderer Heather, the outsider who would do anything to get her daughter into the elite’s good graces and into their even better schools? Norah, the high-powered executive failing to balance work with the emotional responsibilities of motherhood? Or Poppy, whose perfect-on-the-outside façade conceals more than her share of secrets?

Each of them has something to hide.

Each of them will do anything to keep secrets hidden.

And each of them just might kill to protect their own.

Limited plot imagination

Needed a better plot development it was tired, kind of formula writing at this point. I did enjoy it but could have done more

Ended before all of the stories were wrapped up

I was shocked when the booked ended because we didn’t find out what happened to a lot of the characters! It was pretty interesting, but it’s incomplete in my opinion.

ending twist

reader was good and believable. The story was interesting and although I think there was some
missing pieces, the storyline was goid and the end was surprising.

Boring

Could’ve been so much better than it was. Did not keep my attention for long.

I love this book it was a very well written thriller. It kept me guessing until the surprise plot twist.

First I loved the development of the characters and the twists and turns in the story as it developed.
Second I thought the book was insightful in making you think about the morality of the “ No one needs to know” excuse to cover up the truth.
Third I thought it was about time someone wrote a book to pull back the curtain to reveal what really goes on in some communities in the United States. I live in Palm Beach County Florida, and the characters in this book are very similar to some of the women that live in this county. While some people might think the characters were unrealistic, This is not the case. I will tell you I know of a woman who sent three of her children to Saint Andrews, which is a private school in Boca Raton. This woman had an affair with the San Andrews lacrosse coach, and when her daughter got kicked out of Saint Andrews for cheating, the school was so very kind, not to put this on her daughter’s transcript, but rather allow her daughter to quietly transfer to a public school for some bogus reason so her daughter would not need to reveal the truth to Universities during the application process. In short the storyline was not far-fetched at all.
Certain private schools and mothers are very supportive of the “No One Needs to Know” excuse to cover up the truth.
