Publisher's summary

To make "nonviolent" choices is to allow respect for others to spring up out of the abyss of misunderstanding; to use voices, not guns, and peaceful actions, not tanks; and to open hearts to the possibility of peaceful coexistence with others. In this speech, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk asks us to open our minds to the idea that the way we treat animals is a reflection of who we are and helps us determine whether we have grasped the most basic problem facing us as we attempt to resolve conflict: a lack of empathy for others who are not like us. It is an interesting exercise that requires us to confront our most ingrained prejudices, even as we challenge others to confront theirs.

Why is this noteworthy?

This talk was so powerfully convincing that it seems impossible that the need for it ever existed. How sad that it does! Bravo to the author.

Something for Everyone to Think About

What did you love best about Nonviolence Includes Animals?

The message was clear without being preachy

What did you like best about this story?

How is this different than the first question?

Have you listened to any of Ingrid E. Newkirk and Dennis Kucinich ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Well, yes, it was quite short.

Any additional comments?

The message was clear without being preachy, but sadly few will probably listen to this. People, in general, don't seem to want to know, see, hear about the plight of animals and how we are directly involved in their suffering.
