Publisher's summary

Tom's a prepper, and with his three friends, they embark on a fly-in fishing trip to northern Canada to have a long, relaxing vacation. Things turn deadly when an EMP leaves them stranded and alone 1,000 miles away from civilization. Winter is coming, and they only brought enough supplies for two weeks.

In a hostile land, there's no room for mistakes or illness. One wrong step can prove to be as deadly as the wildlife that has no fear of humans, and that views them as more than a potential food source. Escape by boat or over land would be near impossible.

So much to do, so ill-equipped, and so little time. Follow the four friends in their journey of survival. Survival isn't just an option - It's life or death.

Fun

Not your typical end of days story, No zombies no deadly human hoards. A group of friends are stuck in the northern outreaches of Canada and walking out is not an option. That's all I want to give away. Enjoy

I don't know what took me so long to read this book! It was excellent! Great storyline, relatable characters; all that's missing is a sequel!

Preppers post apocalyptic success

This story is not just for preppers. It is a wonderful glimpse of a post apocalypse from a small group completely isolated from the actual event I take and their story of survival. Reminds me a bit at times of David eddings high hunt. Good characters, great story, great sense of realism to the events and the characters interactions. Truly enjoyed the story. I received this audiobook from the author narrator or publisher for free via audiobookblast in exchange for an unbiased review

Great survivalist book

First I will say this is one of my favorite narrators! Kevin is awesome!
The story was quick and fun. The quirky humor was entertaining. The characters were easy to like. I like how this was a SHTF story without all of the raping marauding & pillaging. Not to say that's not what's going on in the 'real' world of the story. The characters are smart & capable. The writer never makes you feel like they are stupid. That's a plus in my opinion. If you are going to be stranded in the wilderness you need to have brains to survive.
I'd like to know what comes next for these characters or at least for the Scorched Earth.

Hatchet Meets the SHTF

If you could sum up Northern Lights in three words, what would they be?

Great new story

What other book might you compare Northern Lights to and why?

Maybe a cross between Gary Paulsen's Hatchet and books like Going Home, Good Fences, or other prepper-type books.

What about Kevin Pierce’s performance did you like?

Kevin is one of the elite narrators. His voice just has that guy next door voice that is just amazing to sit and listen to his story. When he is reading, you can tell that he actually cares about what he is reading.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was short enough that I tried to listen to it in one go. It took me three tries to get through it all, but it was well worth it.

Any additional comments?
