Publisher's summary

She’s the girl he left behind. He’s the boy she tried to forget. But after seven years apart, one passionately reckless night will tie them together forever …

As teenagers, Callie Ironside and Lewis Adair were inseparable. So much so, Lewis still can’t work out where it all went horribly wrong, or why he’s spent the last seven years in London away from the love of his life.

Callie knows exactly where it all went wrong and while she tried to move on—learning pastry techniques in Paris and dating French men—returning home to Ardnoch to work in her mother’s bakery only reminds her of the future she lost with Lewis.

But when a visit to London brings them unexpectedly together, the passion, pain and animosity between them leads to a one-night stand. For Lewis, it’s the beginning of winning Callie and his life in Ardnoch back. For Callie, it’s a mistake that’s shaken up the devastating heartbreak she fought hard to forget. However, Lewis is determined to fight for her, and proves it when their night together results in more than just unresolved feelings.

As they come to grips with impending parenthood and the mistakes they’ve both made, Callie and Lewis will not only have to decide to fight for a love that has endured so many years apart, but a mysterious adversary who seems intent on destroying the future they’re building together.

Lewis and Callie are everything!

I honestly don’t know where to begin. We met Callie Ironside and Lewis Adair as kids in book 1 of this series, Beyond The Thistles, and I adored them so much. They were the absolute cutest, and I was so excited to find out we’d be getting their story. And it was so perfect for them.

They were the best of friends as kids, which blossomed into teenage love. The were meant to be, til they weren’t. Seven years after taking separate paths in life, those paths manage to cross. There’s no denying the connection between these two, enhanced by the flashbacks to childhood that help solidify their bond. But the tension. The banter. The heat. The pining. The passion! They’re the poster children for “it’s always been you,” and I ate up every second of it.

I just adore this series so very much. Samantha’s writing is amazing, her characters are wonderful, and I want nothing more than to drop everything and move to Ardnoch and immerse myself in this community and hope the Adairs adopt me.

Shane East, as always, gave such a wonderful performance as Lewis. He was able to portray such a range of emotions and from teenager in love to protective, possessive lover! And Zara Hampton-Brown...just wow! This is my first time listening to her, and she did such a phenomenal job! The raw emotions she was able to emit. She was beyond phenomenal as Callie, and I can't wait to listen to more of her. This audio was so very well done!

Master Class in Scottish Romance!

Samantha Young does it again! She manages to break your heart and then stitch it back together. Ardnoch and its characters are a world I'm happy to escape to over and over again.

Second Chance Romance in the Highlands?! What can be better!

I had been eagerly and anxiously anticipating this book and it did not disappoint. Loved the way it was told in the alternating timelines between Callie and Lewis‘s past and present.

The audio narration from Shane East and Zara Hampton Brown was truly fantastic. I could listen to Shane East read just about anything, and I love how he has changed his delivery and his accents throughout the different books of the series that he’s narrated.
